Rehydrating OLD Cigars

I’m going to disagree about them being dead, and that “dry” means “flavorless”. I’ve smoked some previously dry cigars, brought back to 65%, and they were enjoyable. Certainly, I find that dry pipe tobacco is the shizzizle. Old and dry…haven’t tried that yet, but that’s what trial and error is all about!

Still haven’t fired one up. Going ‘low ‘n slow’ on the rehydration. Next weekend will be two months. That was kinda my target date.

I have some cigars from the 1950s in my humidor. Sure they were dry when I found them but I'm still going to give one a try. I have a bone dry jar of Partagas Picadura, the Cuban pipe tobacco, and it tastes just fine.

The cigars are not smokeable at this point. Given they are sentimental, I would give then a few coats of clear lacquer and use them as tampers.

Why did I read "tampons"? Although, now I have gift ideas...
