Semois is an interesting animal. I have some that is left over from a brick that I bought 4 or 5 years ago. I don't smoke it often (obviously), but when I want a quick, flavorful smoke, it's just the thing.

Buttery is a good way to describe the texture of the smoke. Almost creamy.

Flavors include earth, cocoa, toasted nuts (hazelnut mainly) and to a lesser degree, molasses. There is VERY little sweetness in this tobacco and it is more cigar-like than any other blend I've tried.

But when I'm in the mood for it, it really hits the spot and the nic hit is just shy of heavy.

Thank you so much this is very helpful, you’ve peaked my curiosity for sure. I can’t find anything in your description that would be off-putting for me, so I think I might put my money in this direction first. I am really starting to think I might like to purchase the medium cut Tabac De La Semois: Reserve du Patron as a starting point to see how I enjoy it.

Everyone's experience is unique, but, I distinctly recall a sneaky nic hit from a smoot tasting blend that caught me mid bowl. It was during my first couple of years of piping, so, I was still very much in newbie mode.
This happened while smoking my first bowl of C&D Big 'n Burly. You'd think I'd have been 'on the lookout' for the nic, but it was so smooth I just didn't think of it till the hiccups began. Another lesson learned!

I am also going to vote for 1792 ☑️ Bruno ☑️ and Condor ☑️ - long cut though, not the ready rubbed - imho the ready rubbed version is a little flaccid when compared to the flake and I could smoke 2-3 bowls of green to one bowl of flake, this might just be me though as I believe them both to be the same tobacco; it is probably an erroneous belief on my part but green (rr) doesn’t tickle the itch that brown (lc) does.

I am also going to offer up Revor Plug for consideration.

Revor is wonderful stuff; dark and creamy with an interesting edge and it certainly ticks the nicotine requirement box ☑️ and the “smooth as a baby’s bottom” on the retro hale/nose blow box ☑️.

Another vote for Peterson Irish flake. Extremely smooth with a very respectable nic kick. Also readily available and reasonably priced.

Woah, these most recent suggestions are amazing! I’m so pumped to try some of these! Wow. I am especially excited to try Revor Plug as I had been doing some previous research on this one!
It’s a good, honest work horse of a tobacco that offers enough to keep you interested; it has secured a solid fourth position in my rotation. It’s easy to prepare compared to other plugs - you don’t need specialist weaponry for it - and it ticks the satisfaction box ☑️

You guys . . . since successfully ditching the dreaded cigarettes for a pipe I avoid blends with anything more than mild nicotine.
It's not that I dislike Lady N, it's the cravings from addiction that I'm delighted to no longer experience.
As an inhaler, most of the blends recommended here would probably turn me green these days.
