Russ's current monthly blend at pipes and cigars.com is a nice cherry aromatic. It's called Nation's Capital. Also, try Racing Green by Orlik and Svendborg's Danish Mixture. Neither are cherry but both are my favorite aros.

I don't smoke a lot of aromatics, but I do enjoy some of the Danish aromatics:

W.O. Larsen Signature and Old Fashioned.

So by chance, I walk into a tobacco shop near a job I was doing today to see what they had. They take me in the back where the other pipe tobacco is and what do you know, all the dunhill line and durbar. I picked up a tin of my mixture 965 and was going to get a tin of night cap as well but I just got the 965 instead with a new cob.
First off, upon opening the tin, holy crap it smelled amazing! Campfire smoke and leather came to mind. So I pack a bowl of the stuff in the new cob and all I can say is wow! This stuff smells and tastes great

So many good standard blends. So, to go a little outside the box, but remain with the well-proven, you might look at Edward G. Robinson and from Iwan Ries, Blue Three Star. I've tried them both and think you might well enjoy either. Aromatics support the industry with around ninety plus percent of sales, so the selection is vast.

Aromatics are 90%, even these days? Wow, that's surprising... I thought the connoisseur mentality these days would have put a bigger dent in that. I guess I kind of operate in a vaccuum though by hanging out here.

Just about anything from Sutliff is probably going to be decent. When I started out I got a sample of their Chocolate Nougat flavour and didn't think much of it, but a year later I thought is was "decent", even though it was a year old at that point and otherwise a very ordinary Aromatic. You'll be able to taste things better as time goes on.
Right now one of the best Aro's I've tried is Sutliff Mountain Pass (in the tin), otherwise known as Sutliff Z92 Vanilla Custard (in bulk).
Otherwise just about anything with strong alcohol type flavouring should come through reasonably well.
Don't forget about Frog Morton, especially the Cellar version.

I forgot Milan Tobacco's Sunset Rum in my list above. Had some last night... lovely stuff... not goopie, "wet", or chemical-y at all... VERY rummy tho, but if you like that, it's great!

Guy posts on forum, asks for good aromatic. Ends up with Dunhill 965, and he loves it.
This is why it's good to try a lot of blends--you never know what you're going to like.

I'm not fond of rum as a flavor, but Milan sure does make some excellent blends. I think the reason I still smoke aros is because I was introduced to pipe smoking through Milan aros.

Blood Red Moon is pretty tasty and smells great in the tin and in the air. It's pretty mild though, so I like to mix in something with more body but very little flavor so the BRM stays unscathed. In my case, Dunhill Flake. But straight burley might be ok too, as it tends to take on the flavor of whatever it's mixed with. Five Brothers perhaps, if you want something with a solid nic kick.
I like Erik Stokkebye 1931 Flake. Very high quality tobacco, good backbone, slow and cool-burning with no bite, very nice honey flavor and note.
GL Pease Virginia Cream is decent, but somewhat bitey. I mix in some Lane Ltd BCA black cavendish to mellow it out.
And speaking of BCA, while it's like smoking vanilla air by itself, mixed in with any fairly sraight non-aro VA or burley makes a very nice aro.
There is no law that says you have to smoke what comes in the tin. Blend your own.

C&D Golden Days of Yore...it's a Christmas blend, but if you like chocolate, rum, and holiday spices you'll love this. Plus, it's not your run of the mill Virgina/Burley/Cavendish drenched in sauce tongue-bite waiting to happen nightmare. It's a complex blend with the addition of Katerini orientalis and Dark Fired Kentucky.
