Welcome to Pete Geekdom, it’s a slippery slope. I love my Pete’s! Nice pipe!
I only have the Emerald series 106 for now. I'll have more soon.Yes, both great brands with lots of history. Which 106 pipe(s) do you have?
Irish Harp 80SThanks! What’s your favorite Peterson pipe?
They recently (1-2 weeks?) had a drop along those lines but this time they were all fishtails, no P-lips... so I passed. I have 2 from the short army drop a year or so back and they are exceptional performers. Exceptional. This line needs to come back (@swilford)!
Yeah those were the Irish Made Army pipes. I passed on them because of the length, not so much the absence of the plip. But the "swell" on the Short Army pipes also fit the muscular Peterson shapes better than the normal stems. They recently (1-2 weeks?) had a drop along those lines but this time they were all fishtails, no P-lips... so I passed. Ok. Thanks for the distinction. And yes, that swell makes it better looking.Yeah those were the Irish Made Army pipes. I passed on them because of the length, not so much the absence of the plip. Nice! The Irish Harp is a handsome line of Peterson pipes.Irish Harp 80S
Thanks! Let us know when you have joined the Peterson club -- I think you'll enjoy it!I haven't bought a Peterson yet, been thinking about buying a Green or Ebony Spigot straight billiard. I really like this one here, you said it's kinda like a Goldilocks pipe, it's just kinda all around perfect, and I like that. Good looking pipe! Enjoy it
How did you get a Peterson from the 1930s? Did you have to do any restoration work on it? I haven't gotten into estate pipes yet, but I think it will happen sooner or later.Great looking pipe.
I currently have 2, but I've had a dozen or so over the years.
I currently have a straight Billiard from the 1930s and a System Standard from 2 days ago.
Excellent choice! I like the brass and green bands on the Emerald pipes. Which Peterson pipes are coming soon to your collection?I only have the Emerald series 106 for now. I'll have more soon.
I'm looking into the sherlock series.Excellent choice! I like the brass and green bands on the Emerald pipes. Which Peterson pipes are coming soon to your collection?
Thanks! What are your favorite Petersons? I’m already daydreaming about getting another Peterson pipeBig PeteGeek on this end and love your first choice. Slick looking pipe!
I like bent pipes more than straight/billiard, so I have more of those styles, but maybe I need something like yours. Some of my Petes are 307, Sherlock Holmes Lestrade, 309, and the pub pipe. There aren't any bad ones, and finding a style you like and will smoke is the best way to go. Many of mine are estate pipes, and a cheaper way to go when looking for that next one. Thanks! Congrats! When I opened up my first Peterson, it felt so special in its green box and bag (pipe sock) contrasting its rustication. It was the first “expensive” pipe, and I did not regret it.View attachment 391995
Recently acquired this, my first ever Peterson pipe, a Peterson Army Filter Sandblasted 106, compatible with 9mm filters. It is also my first straight briar pipe and first army-mount pipe. (My other briar pipes — which are from Savinelli and Molina — are all bent, and I have three Missouri Meerschaum corncob pipes, two of which are bent and one of which is straight.) Currently my favorite pipe. It feels Goldilocks-just-right in the hand, smokes well, and I like the sense of history and heritage with it being a Peterson pipe and an army-mount pipe. Cheers.
