This says they are the worldwide distributors: Rattray's - https://www.kopp-pipes.com/en/rattray-s/The never got a response because K&K was only responsible for the Rattray tobacco blends and not the pipes.
Yes. Distributors is different than the company manufacturing the pipes. Kopp only manufacturers the tobacco blends for Rattray's.This says they are the worldwide distributors: Rattray's - https://www.kopp-pipes.com/en/rattray-s/
Yup you're right; good distinction. Are these kinds of things taken to the manufacturer rather than the distributor? I have no idea how supply chain stuff works.Yes. Distributors is different than the company manufacturing the pipes. Kopp only manufacturers the tobacco blends for Rattray's.
The retailer should be the one who services the customer. Distributors and manufacturers are not typically public facing.Yup you're right; good distinction. Are these kinds of things taken to the manufacturer rather than the distributor? I have no idea how supply chain stuff works.
I following your lead and I have emailed Smoking Pipes US.I'm going to ship it back tomorrow. Smoking Pipes Europe said they have already pulled another one to set aside for me to ship out once they get this one. It really is a shame.
I have been happy with the SP Europe response so far. I will update as things transpire.
and yet a few of their pipes have shown up here (Savinelli) with similar issues. Not often but even great makers send out a few duds. The question for me is more if it keeps happening. Rattray is an odd one for this though because they don't make pipes but have others make them. My pipe from them is great and clearly French made based on certain tells.Butz Choquin maybe or even overseas and finished in France who knows and who even cares, I'd get a refund never to be reminded. Savinelli is still a good old world shop, go w them
I have really considered that option but as I pulled it out of the box today I noticed two more areas on the bowl where the lacquer had bubbled. I have packed it up and will be shipping it back tomorrow. I don't think there is any chance of getting it replaced by smokingpipe.com as the email from them said they could issue a store credit or credit card credit.I really like that satin green bowl on the Yule pipe. I know the lacquer has started bubbling and flaking, but part of my rotten brain still says strip it and wax it.
