I don't think Forums has ever had a discussion of orange flavored aromatics before. Very interesting.

The Rattray's is more like orange vanilla to me.
Like Orange Julius? 8O Even as a kid I found that combo weird.
perdurabo - McConnell's does a rose blend, but only available in Europe. Didn't know Rattray had one, too.

Definitely orange vanilla, in a pleasant way. It reminds me of orange with vanilla ice cream.
For as strong as the flavoring is it isn’t at all goopy. The jar I have is almost a year old and the flavors haven’t faded as far as I can tell.
Rattrays have done a better job of doing a strongly aro blend than Peterson’s, IMO.

Lazar, your right, it was McConnell not Rattray. Sorry wrong company. But I'd like to try the Rose blend. I liked the GH&Co flake with rose water, can't remember the name. For some reason I got Rattray and McConnell mixed up.

perdurabo, I didn't know about the GH one. Interesting.... I'm not sure rose is even a good idea in pipe tobacco, but I'd be interested to try. If it's more of a rose water flavor, like they use in Middle Eastern deserts, I think it could work. But if it's more a hand cream/soap rose, not so much.

I got my order today, and after opening the first tin, I was pleasantly surprised that the tin note was nice and light. The orange scent is very light with much more of a tobacco scent. The moisture was perfect for my taste. I like just a bit of springiness when I load a bowl. I've only had one bowl so far and it was a good smoke.

I started a post awhile ago about that one and a kind forum member here sent me a large sample of it. It's really good and they actually add the rose petals to the blend! It's a nice mild aromatic with a wonderful rose note! It can be had at Esterval's Pipe House. If you like stuff like that I would highly recommend Samuel Gawith's Kendal Cream. It's a delicious smoke that reminds me of Earl Grey tea with milk and honey and a splash of rose water, I think it's much better than the McConnell's Red Roses as it has more body and more nicotine and much, much better than Grasmere in my opinion. Grasmere tastes more herbal and full of geranium than roses.
C&D's Savinelli 140th Anniversary blend sounds really promising as well, it has Orange Blossom as a topping. I have one tin but I have yet to open it.

I have a bit of it and really enjoy it. Odd thing is I do not like citrus and most aro's.
I am always willing to try new things however and for me at least this will be in my rotation for quite some time. Fantastic once a month blend....it holds up.
