Rainy Weather Smokes?

A mindless Friday afternoon question, because I've been grading assignments all day, so my brain is like Rice Krispies left in milk overnight, and it's raining out, so no smoking today.

So I'm curious, does rainy weather change the experience for you? If it's wet outside, does that influence the type of blend you reach for? For outdoor smokers, is it just wait for the rain to stop, or are you a rugged individual who scorns the rough hand of the weather and goes forth face first into the rain with stem firmly clenched?

Indoor smokers, gloat if you want, no judgment here!

I tend to grab Lats and English when it’s chilly and rainy.
Now if it’s a hot and humid rainy day then there is no different approach for me.
I’ve always smoked outside regardless of what the weather is. Thank gosh for the porch and garage too.

I'm in control so, I smoke in the rain and/or snow if I wish. I'm not going to melt so, what's the problem? The weather doesn't impact when I smoke outdoors. My work requires me to be outside in all types of weather plus, I like the look a soft rain adds to many of my shots, softer colors. I smoke what I have at hand.

I love smoking in the rain. I don’t smoke anything different—my usual air cured home blend—but the moisture in the air , or just the mood of rainy day smokes, seems to bring out certain flavors I enjoy

Cabbie's is the one I only smoke on two occasions, when it's raining and when it's not.

In my experience, rainy conditions don't help blends that smoke wet or have trouble staying lit (looking at you, FVF!) Dry stuff like Semois or many C&D blends might be improved a little, though.

If there's wet and humid weather, and especially if it's cold, I usually just grab a cob. I don't have much of a gurgle problem with any of my briars, but with a cob, it's zero. I might also gravitate toward a drier tobacco like Two Timer.

If it's a deluge, then I keep working on my ark. If it's a normal rain and I'm out already, I just keep smoking, maybe I'll turn my pipe upside down if it's heavy. If I'm just enjoying a pipe and it's raining, my tree house has a covered deck that's perfect for an enjoyable and peaceful smoke in the rain.

I tend to reach for a touch of the Latakia in the rain and tend to stick to ribbon cut pre-dried to an extra crispy consistency. Ones that come to mind are GLP Westminster and Peretti Tashkent. If it is warmer weather out, I tend to go a bit more VA forward and "Scottish" like Blairgowrie.

I'm just getting to know Tashkent, and the other two are on my wishlist, it's funny how extra smokiness seems to be the response to rain?

Maybe I'm just prone to suggestion but Ashton's Rainy Day always sounds good on such a day. But, in reality, I reach for "comfort" blends which (for me) are blends like Navigator, Sixpence, First Amendment, or Scottish Flake.

I don't have certain blends for certain weather. And I do occasionally sit on the patio in the rain and smoke.

I'm just getting to know Tashkent, and the other two are on my wishlist, it's funny how extra smokiness seems to be the response to rain?

Westminster reminds me of 965. I might be way off there in that assessment. Tashkent is my nighttime porch smoke. Of course, I don't always adhere to my own typical leanings on these things.

Right now I’m in the SoAZ desert where we haven’t had rain in months but back in the upper Midwest I love to smoke my pipe on a rainy day with nowhere to go and nothing to do or in the evening watching a thunder storm roll in from the west. Very Relaxing

We have more than our fair share of rain and I tend to lean towards some sort of English, really like Maltese Falcon as a treat and Irish X twist when something hearty is needed.

Almost always smoke on the front verandah, which is enclosed on 3 sides. So, pretty well sheltered unless it is blowing a gale.

Sydney, Oz has a temperate climate, so I pretty much smoke whatever blend takes my fancy on the day, all year round.

Blairgowrie is my rainy/cold weather blend of choice. It has a fantastic "campfire" taste/smell/feel that just bundles my spirit up.
