I mostly smoke on the front porch swing so i am still dry if it’ is raining. I love to smoke on a rainy day. Something about it is especially enjoyable. My favorite is smoking when it’s REALLY foggy. I don’t know exactly what it is about a thick fog that makes it “better” but I always enjoy that.

This morning it's Opening Night; the next one will be either Windsail or Ellipsis. because that's the two I put in the pocket tins this morning when I left. The rain should stop before long then it's hot and steamy.

Pipe smoking in the rain, under open-shelter, is the best kind of pipe smoking. Or at least, it's one of the best kinds.

I don't mean if the wind is blowing. Best to smoke indoors in that case. But I mean, if it's a calm and steady sort of rain -- the pensive sort that you don't mind going to bed to -- well then, I pull up a chair under the front awning so that the rain is falling on 3 sides of me, light some latakia, open a good book, and maybe watch a leaf navigate a gutter-fed rivulet whilst listening for the splash of occasional cars hitting puddles in a sleepy town.

Those are the memorable smokes.

Any pipe tobacco of my preference at the moment is fair game for me in stormy weather. If the rain is excessive, I have often rotated the bowl downward so it does not collect rain water.

I have not smoked a pipe in 2 days due to nonstop rain. Although I do sometimes smoke while it's raining, the rain does kind of kill the mood. I do not smoke for nicotene, I smoke for the experience. The last 2 days have been 40 degrees and a constant downpour.

Rain, sleet, or snow. I'm smoking, baby.
Funk, for a little bit, you'd sound just like the U S Postal service, "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds"

On second thought.... I'm only getting mail about 4 days a week now, so maybe not..........

We got our first rain in seven months yesterday. I enjoyed watching my street become a raging river with a cigar in the car port.
Glad you got some rain, Dave.
We, in the southeastern US, have had a very wet spring. Even to the point it is hard to get hay equipment into the fields to cut and bale hay. We have just, over the past few days gotten a reprieve.
Thinking back to periods of drought, however, I can remember what a relief it is to finally get some rain. And It is a pleasure to have a smoke and watch it come down..... :col:
