Given the life he lead, he outlived all expectations. I'm a big Sabbath fan from the 1970's (solo Ozzy not so much).
RIP Ozzy, you gave it your all!
This is basically what I was going to say. Ozzy was a unique character and I am a huge fan of the first 5 Black Sabbath albums. I can only imagine what it must have been like to hear and see Sabbath in 1969. There had just never been anything like them.

RIP Ozzy and thanks for the memories.

RIP Ozzy. Growing up I was not allowed to listen to music other than Christian and whatever my grandparents played, usually Dean, Frank, Mario Lanza, Connie Francis and such. I would sneak down into the basement and play my Uncle’s records and Masters of Reality was the first record I put on that hit me. I’ll never forget it. It sparked a love of Heavy Metal that is still in me. The influence that Sabbath had on rock, what can be said.

Have you checked out the Nativity in Black cover albums? My favorite cover albums from some "super groups" of metal members (AL Jourgeson with others, Rob Halford with others) and bands (White Zombie, Static X, Pantera, Slayer, Megadeth) with insane artwork and quotes from the cover band members about particular songs.

Your posts reminds me of one of the quotes where they found a family member's records and got into Sabbath.

I got rid of all my CD pamphlets and regret getting rid of the two Nativity ones the most.

RIP - saw Black Sabbath live in Athens in 2005, his voice broke at Children of the Grave but the overall concert was one of the best I've ever been in.

Little late with my post as I've been on vacation and out of the country on a Cruise. News of Ozzy's passing hit while at sea, so thankfully I was distracted with vacation plans and the "drink package" on the ship. Ozzy and Sabbath have been my favorite artist/band since the early 90's. Ozzy is what got me into Heavy Metal. Over the years I've collected a lot of Ozzy/Sabbath memorabilia, so here are some pictures of some of my collection. Not pictured are the countless magazines with Ozzy/Sabbath on the cover, posters, concert tickets, and a few other things.

"Prince of Darkness Poker" I had commissioned by Sparky's Pipes.

Ozzy albums; featuring several soundboard recordings from 1981, 1982 with Randy Rhoads, and 1989 with Zakk Wylde. I also have two bootleg DVDs from the "Speak of the Devil" and "Bark at the Moon" tours.

Ozzy/Sabbath concert programs. I attended the Retirement Sucks Tour '96, Ozzfest '96, Reunion Tour '99, Ozzfest 2000, Ozzfest 2003 (though Ozzy did not perform due to health issues, Ozzfest 2004, and The End Tour '16. So thankfully I saw Sabbath 3 times and Ozzy 3 times.

Needless to say I've been spinning a lot of Ozzy and Sabbath this past week. They're in constant rotation anyways, bu
