Question regarding marijuana ghosting in a briar pipe

I would just get a drug test and check it. It seems rather large to smoke marijuana. Maybe it's not and it just has a similar ghost.

Heating the alcohol helps. That's why the retort. Send it off to a good repairman. Let him clean it as well he can, then let him assess it for you.
All vegetable matter we smoke in our pipes have their own unique oils. The question is how those oils penetrate the carbon cake and the briar?

That looks like a Savenelli Roma that has had a stem replacement job done to it. In fact I have one very similar. My vote is to ream it to wood, clean it again with the salt and alchohol and smoke the crap out of it with a heavy english blend. Cant see THC being an issue in such minute amounts. Course you could always stick it in somebodys pocket at the airport and see if the sniffer dogs react lol......... what Im kidding

I actually gave it a few salt and alcohol treatments, and many normal cleanings and soakings. It rested for about a week then I gave it a smoke, It's a bit salty tasting but I believe over time it should be ok. I also do believe I over cleaned it and didn't need to go the extent that i did. Lesson learned--> don't buy pipes where people have smoked weed in them.

I seriously don't think you will ever get rid of it. Marijuana resin is near impossible to get out of wood unless you ream all surfaces including the shank back to bare clean wood. No idea how you would ever get it out of the shank. I would use it to practice carving pipes or rustication or something.

Reaming it down to the wood was a great idea, now you could do anything with it and the cops probabley could never pull a resin sample out of it, no matter how much they tried. As for the flavor, just smoke something really heavy in latakia with no bite for a bit and you should be fine

imho.. toss it and save yourself possible grief. I don't care how you clean it or how many times I would be willing to bet one of those drug dogs would pick it up. might be ok if you don't leave home with it but having it in your car or in your luggage may just ruin your trip. yeah, it's a long shot, but..

Pipe is to big for a pot pipe which makes me wonder if its not pot smell.....what is it...toss it in trash

Being a pot smoker, weed resin is EXTREMELY pungent. It is very hard to get out of a porous material.
If the resin/oils get hot enough, it can get you high, and have THC enter your system.
Best bet it to trash it, if you are worried about that kinda stuff. If it was me, I'd just keep smoking a strong blend to try to mask or get rid of it.

I don't see why someone would smoke weed out of a tobacco pipe. Don't stoners usually prefer glass pipes or waterbongs made out of a 2 liter of Coke?

I wouldn't throw it away. It is a nice pipe. That would be a waste. It could be an ideal pipe for another on here. You said you did not taste pot, it only had the smell of it. The main concern was the THC getting into your system. This article, (I did not link it because of the nature of the site) said that THC will bond to alcohol. It works better if it is over 200 degrees. It may remove the THC. If I was nervous about it, I would trade it to any of the several people who have replied to this thread that was interested in giving it a new home.

The original thread was about how to get rid of the stinky weed ghosting in a pipe. Your resurrection two years later was how you could buy the pipe unmolested by a fine tobacco so you could smoke the stinky weed in said pipe....and that crosses the line into a banned subject...Closing the thread....
