contact Laudisi at LDG Customer Service <sales@laudisi.com> . They are awesome to work with, and these lighter rock. I have two kabutos I love that are super easy to fill with xikar purofine high performance 8oz can. I broke one flint cap/spring somehow, and they fixed it. Actually they couldn't fix it and they replaced it.

Why don't you post a pic or two. Most everyone else, including myself, have not had any issues. So it may help to see what you're working with.

Ok, pics are below...

but I wanted to try one more time before posting these...so this time I really bore down hard...to the point that I feared I would break the can's plastic nozzle tip...and I did manage to get some in the lighter this time, but it was still spilling out while filling...just not the entire volume of the spray like before.

The lighter is now functioning, but I definitely need some different butane...I'm not going to go through that every time I need to fill it.

old Xikar on left...new Kiribi on right:

That looks like my lighter. I use the Xikar high altitude high performance butane. You do not have to press down hard and in fact shouldn't. You'll tear something up before long. Wiggle the nozzle around on the filing slot on the lighter to center it. Then press down for around 5 seconds.

The other problem you could be having is you need to bleed the lighter to vacate air. If the lighter is full of air, which is heavier than the butane, it won't accept any butane. Take the skinny pin on a pipe tool and press down the receptacle on the lighter. If there is stuff inside, you hear and feel it vacate the lighter. Then try filing it with butane. I've filled many a lighter with the butane you have with no problems.

If all that doesn't work, is always possible the lighter is screwed up. Send it in under warranty.

Yeah, as I mentioned earlier, I already checked all that...there was no air pressure in the lighter. I also tried wiggling the nozzle around as you said. And I tried every degree of force pressing down...from very lightly to very heavily...and it was only pressing down heavily that got any butane in the thing.

I've filled that Xikar lighter countless times with that same butane. The valve on the Kiribi is obviously a smaller diameter, so at this point I'm going with the theory that the nozzles on those Xikar cans are a little too big for it...it's the only thing that makes any sense to me right now.

I think I always used colibri in mine but never noticed any problems besides it leaking out all the butane.

I have the same 2 lighters. I highly recommend using Colibri butane. I buy the 10 oz size on amazon. The nozzle is a perfect fit for both lighters.

Here’s my Kiribi Mikazuki with a 90ml can of Colibri beside it.

I too bleed off before filling, but never had a problem getting butane in. ?

I ordered a can of Colibri a couple of days ago that is supposed to include the set of different sized nozzles. If that doesn't solve the problem I'll just have to return the lighter.

Kiribis are built tough. I dropped my Mikazuki yesterday when getting out of the car: it landed on the snow and got embedded there; I found it hours later and had to kick it lightly to pry it off. Seemed to have frozen: it wouldn't light. After another hour in my pocket and repeated strikes of the flint it finally spouted a flame. Working fine again. ?

It's the second time I drop it on the snowy ground after getting out of my car and it lays there for hours. I must stop using the pocket on that jacket.
