This is the same as people selling their 2 year old tins for like $20 over the regular price. And this is tobacco that is still in stock and available year round.

I smoked several tins of Penzance, back when it was easy to find. The few tins that I set aside are gone. So be it.

I smoked several tins of Penzance, back when it was easy to find. The few tins that I set aside are gone. So be it.

Although I’ve enjoyed dozens of tins of Penzance, and a good number of other Esotericas as well, I’m of a similar mindset. I refuse to pay more than retail for these blends. If I find them on store shelves, I’ll absolutely pick them up; if not, that’s okay.

It’s been said frequently here, but it bears repeating: It is still possible to find these blends in stock, at retail, in brick-and-mortars.

The last time I visited my favorite, extremely well-stocked pipe shop (several years ag), I asked about the Esoterica bags. “Sure, we have some. What are you looking for?”

I told him what I was looking for and asked how much he wanted for them.

”They’re marked $37.95.”

This was when prices were starting to go crazy on eBay. But when I asked what he was selling them for, he looked at me like I was insane. And then, as if he were explaining it to a child, he said, “$37.95.”

Although that retail price may not be current, the fact is that pipe shops may well have these blends available, and they won’t be trying to gouge the community.

Has PipeStud and/or 4 Noggins collectively lost their shit with prices and artificially inflating the tobaccos market or are we as pipe smokers to blame to actually paying these bat shit crazy prices to them ?
