Jeesh, woods... he bought the idea to stock up on euro blends. He likes this year, and that is founded with a double negative. Come on... get with it, ha ha."So buy idea to stock up on euro blends I like this year is not unfounded?"
Sorry, sometimes I don’t see my typos. I’m working on it. “My idea” not “buy idea”"So buy idea to stock up on euro blends I like this year is not unfounded?"
I’m buying as much as I can fit into the closet that wife allows me to use for thisAnswer is buy as much as you can without resorting to eating ramen noodles for next month.
You are starting late. While the parts of the European Tobacco Products Directive applicable to pipe tobacco don't take effect until 2024, the leading leaf sources (big operators like Universal Leaf,Pyxus. BAT, etc.) are already restructuring supplies of leaf to be compliant with track and trace. This translates to more standardization and less variety, among other things.I do remember hearing Per Jensen talk about new European regs coming into play next year. Should I be buying my lifetime supply in 2023?
Just take out the back wall of the closet and close off the room it backs onto...I’m buying as much as I can fit into the closet that wife allows me to use for this
Thanks for the link. The amount of rules and regulations Gawith have to deal with is ridiculous.G&H Video
For those who haven’t seen and may be interested. G&H giving a high level overview of how the new regulations will affect their day to day.
OTOH, the major pipe tobacco blenders have existing stock warehoused that will last years. To my knowledge, none of them is selling leaf fresh from the suppliers. So it seems like it would be years before the market reflects any significant changes in availability, cost increases, etc.You are starting late. Which manufacturers have multi year stocks of leaf? Which varieties? Can it be properly accounted for, as will be demanded by track and trace regulations?OTOH, the major pipe tobacco blenders have existing stock warehoused that will last years. I gotta go with your reasoning ...If you really like a blend, stock up on it because it might either become less available, more expensive, be discontinued, or be changed with different component tobaccos that significantly alter the flavor. That's what's happening and there's no reason to believe that's going to change.
God knows how a tiny company like Germain's are gonna handle all this red tape
