The gifts will indeed be lavish, I am told.
I have been informed that I have my choice of a satin purple Purple beret with gold trim and embroidered silk PM logo, PM-branded crotchless socks or anything from the first three pages of last month's Harriet Carter For Her catalog, provided that it is purple and under $5.
Frankly, I'm outraged deeply touched by the emotional outpouring here, and all I can say is that in time, with proper attention to responsible work habits, oral hygiene and frequent praising of those who have gone before you, that you will all have the opportunity to bask in the Purple Light of Pipedom.
In fact, it seems to happen automatically once you've been here a year, but don't tell anyone, OK?

As acquainted as we are, I offer my congrats - and wonder, utilizing your skills as a phony photo journalist, what sort of pictures must you have on Kevin? :puffpipe:

A few more years and you'll be, uh, another color or, I don't know, what comes next?
Aside from the Sinister Six (who are immortal and therefore will never add to their number) there is only one level of notoriety that some may attain beyond the Purple: The Banned Ones.

Woo-hoo! Congrats Dan!
You are about to be the proud recipient of The Official PipesMagazine.com Propeller Beanie

And, just so you will no longer be intentionally kept out of the loop, Kevin has reluctantly acquiesced and signed-off on the inclusion of

the coveted Official PipesMagazine.com Decoder Pin in your PipesMagazine.com Preferred Membership Packet.

Enjoy them; use them in good health; and thanks for bringing your wisdom and wit to the forums!

"utilizing your skills as a phony photo journalist"

Damn.

He's on to me.
@Cortez: I was told that the gifts would be lavish, but I'm unprepared for the generosity and marketing ingenuity here.....thank you!

The word "purple" reminded me of... "Captain Bob's Blend?" No, this is not an advertisement, I just could not pass up the opportunity to associate "purple" with my Cornell & Diehl Blend.

the tote bag alone is worth the trouble of a full year of posting in excess of 500 times.

@captainbob: :rofl:
@petes03: Apparently, the vice president in charge of clandestine merchandizing and premiums fulfillment was distracted. Not to worry, however; the only secret messages sent out to Preferred Members so far have been reminders to patronize the sponsors of this website. When the revolution comes, we'll let you know via PM. In the meantime a consolation for having dropped the ball on that decoder pin is on its way to you: one of PM.com's latest, The Official PipesMagazine.com Tobacco Cellaring App (Yellow #2 lead pencil available separately).

@lucky695: Yes, PipesMagazine.com spares no expense.

Bob, I know it's been said before... But EVERYTHING appears to be an opportunity for you to shlep that blend.

"Not sour grapes"..., Purple grapes..., what more can I say... I can only add that I only wish that, in fact, I was compensated for the Blend that I created with the "late" Craig Tarler. I never was and I am not now. I pay what you pay. But, I still believe that those that desire a mild "English Blend Aromatic" may be rewarded by trying my Blend. Either way, I do no not lose or gain. I am grateful that my Blend did make the final cut with the sale of C&D to Laudisi. So, in that respect, I will continue to promote my Blend. It does have a significant following. The "reviews" show that it is worthy. Check them out at: http://www.tobaccoreviews.com/blend/3117/cornell-diehl-captain-bobs-blend
Form your own conclusion. If I am upsetting any of you with my posts, I am about ready to resign from this site as I am getting tired of the hassle. I don't want it. I don't need it. And, if you read what I had to say, I can live without it. There are other sites that I can go to.

@Bob, as a pilot, I would think that you'd be really careful about hijacking! :nana:
@Cortez, I know that I've arrived when your virtual cornucopia is finally mine! Only question is, where am I?

We've got your back. You just bask in your purpleness and relax. We'll get this.
Oh! And by the way, congratulations on hanging on for a year. You have now received the validation that you have hungered for. Now, you can lay off the many gag writers you've employed and simply go back to depending on your own simple wit.
Perhaps you can fill your time flogging a blend you particularly enjoy. Maybe call it "Woody's Road," or, perhaps something with a more martial ring to it . . . "Field Marshall Dan's Blend." You could use it as a signature in your posts.
THAT'S IT! "FIELD MARSHALL'S DAN'S SIGNATURE BLEND."
I did the work! Now, run with it!

Am I imagining things or is the young girl on the far right in Woodsroad's "family portrait" smoking Captain Bob's Blend?
