I do not use O2 absorbers. I evacuate (suck the air out of) the bags and pack jars solid. Unless the leaf needs to age more, then I hydrate to 70%, pack loosely and let it go aerobe/anarobe. Mostly, I haven’t tested O2 absorbers with tobacco to ruling out some bad interation, so I don’t use them. My vacuum packer will do a gas flush, though. I should probably use it.

So, I went with your recommendations of the mylar bags. I am going to break down the 5lb bags into the mylar. I am guessing to put them into about 1-pound bags. When I open a 1-pound bags, I will put about 4-8 ounces into a smaller mason jar for short term storage/smoking. I think it would allow the mylar bags to have less opening and closing to lose moisture.

Would it hurt to place a Boveda packet in the mason jars for my short-term storage? I used to do it with cigars, but don't know if it is even necessary for pipe tobacco.
