Recently bought a few ounces of PS English Oriental Supreme to try but it won't dry out. It feels like a goopy aromatic. I have had about an ounce laying out to dry for the last 18 hours and it hasn't gotten any better. Has anyone else ever had similar experiences with this tobacco?

Yep, I live in Alabama, and leaving tobacco out will only make it soak up more moisture. Put it on a card, or coffee filter, or a small plate and put it in the microwave for 8-10 seconds. You don't want to cook it, just start the heating process so that it dries a little.

I don't have a microwave available to try, but I don't thin its the humidity. I'm able to dry out FVF with ease and this PS stuff won't change a lick.

That seems odd, the last few ounces I bought didn't really need any drying time, and smokes really well with very few re-lights.

Maybe you did get a goopy batch somehow, but I have never seen that with this blend.

I bought a pound of it when it was on sale and the moisture level was fine for smoking without drying time. Smoking some right now as a matter of fact. Did you buy it online or from a BM?

Where do you live? What is the normal relative humidity at this time of year?
As Michael points out, if you live in 'Bama or similar climates, you need heat to drive out moisture. Oven or toaster oven if no microwave.

Key question right there. Some B&M's have been known to add humectants to their bulks.
Exactly. I had a clerk weighing out some PS Balkan Supreme for me and swearing under his breath because it was so dry he had to pile a lot of it on the scale. I'm sure he would have been happier if the moisture content had been higher. I'm pretty sure that tobacco had been in that jar for years.

Goopy? That's a surprise. I have a half-pound of bulk Peter Stokkebye English Oriental Supreme which I bought this spring and have been storing in a heavy vintage Wilsons of Sharrow oak snuff barrel. It has had perfect levels of hydration from Day 1 and is holding up well. I can't imagine it ever having been goopy, as formerly goopy tobacco is generally sticky. I don't sense any PG, either.
In fact, I just smoked some last night. It was good, as usual. Burned very well. The PS English bulks blends are an absolute steal, IMHO.

I bought it from a popular online retailer. I'm in Ohio, but like I previously stated yesterday I dried out a rubbed out FVF flake in 30 minutes but this PS won't change a bit. Still very very sticky.

I have to question, then, if your order was filled properly. It just doesn't sound right to me. I bought mine at P&C in June and it was in excellent shape. I don't recall if it appeared to have been repackaged, but since it was 8 oz, I assume it had been.

Maybe next time I order something online I will have to add an ounce or two and see if the next order is any different.

When I get new boxes of LTF, sometimes they come moderately moist and sometimes they seem a lot more moist (never have I received anything that seemed ridiculously wet) . And, I buy about six boxes a year. They also tend to sometimes come just wrapped in plastic like a brick and placed in the box with no seal at all, and sometimes the plastic has a zip-lock seal. I am not sure if they are just willy-nilly grabbing bags at the factory, or if the zip-lock is new, because before last year I don't remember the bags being sealed at all.

Maybe you just got a wet batch? It's really hard to tell without seeing it for ourselves. We are just grabbing ideas out of our... assumptions.
However, if I received a product that I was familiar with, and it was not up to par, I would call the vendor first. Who knows, they may be aware of something that we forum members could not possibly know.

I think that would be a good idea, I have never had a problem with one of their blends either.
