Thanks for the post. That brought back some old memories from what I found a perfect shaped tin from the 30's in the side of an old mining cabin foundation in the middle of the mountains in CA. The foundation of the tent/cabins were stacked rocks...one rock looked out of place and when I pulled it out, there was a P.A. tin behind it with some seeds in it.

I remember a long time ago seeing someone fill their pipe with Prince Albert. It reminded me so much of cigarette tobacco that I have never tried it to this day. I look upon it as the ultimate codger blend. I may be an old codger, but I don't want to smoke like one. puffy

To me, PA has such a unique aromatic casing that it doesn't come across as any cigarette I have ever smoked, but I used to have to look in daily on an elderly Gentleman, Mr. Henry, RIP. And, he smoked PA all day in the same pipe... which might explain why he was the most ornery man I have ever met, ha ha.

I never figured out how he got his PA. No stores close to us carry it, he didn't drive, he didn't have a computer of any sort, his groceries were delivered by his sons, and no one liked him , ha ha. He especially didn't like me, because I was the one who had to check in on him every day. That man could shit talk me for an hour straight, and I just "yes sir, yes sir, yes sir, be safe..." until I could get back outside.
But, when he died, his kids unloaded thousands of tins from his small house. He had every square inch of hiding space of his house crammed full of old tins. It was amazing.

I never really liked PA as a pipe tobacco, although it was good for mixing with (diluting) over-the-top aromatics. In my youth long ago, I worked on a huge ranch (heavy equipment operator) where everyone rolled their cigarettes by hand, myself included, and the unanimous tobacco of choice was always PA. "Tailor-mades" were for when you put on a clean shirt and went into town to get liquored up. It made a great cigarette, in my opinion. Strangely, I thought it smelled like pipe tobacco. I say this merely to counter those who say that in a pipe "it smells like a cigarette."

When you say "thousands of tins" I assume you mean PA tins, not sardine and soup tins? puffy

I've said this many times, but I wish companies still put tobacco in this style of can. Is it really cheaper in the newer tins??
I haven't tried it, but wouldn't those thin PA tins be harder to get the tobacco out? With the new tins there is plenty of room to get your thumb and fore finger in. puffy
