Haha, I love playing the stock the cellar daydreaming game! With $500 to spend I would stock up on G.L. Pease Telegraph Hill, Escudo, Full Virginia Flake (assuming it is in stock), Fribourg &Treyer Black Jack, and Solani Virginia Flake 633.

I've done roughly the same thing this year by getting many pounds. I spent about half of my budget on McClelland tins though. I love the ketchup and I'm a moderate smoker so it is worth it to have smaller quantities of scarce tobacco.

I also got a big Estervals order. These have been tasty blends, but no better than what is available stateside.

I imagine I would get some straight Virginia, Virginia/Perique, and some Burley with Virginia. This is based on what others have shared about Virginia ageing well. I'd get variety because I know tastes can change. Tobacco sales don't happen within Germany but if I was back in America I would wait for sales to make the money go further.

Plugs, Plugs, and more Plugs. In case you have to move. Pretty sure I could fit 5lbs of plugs in my jeans pockets.

Specifically (in a perfect world), Dan Salty Dogs, SPC PPSR, SG FVP, SJP, and Ennerdale Plug, Peterson 3Ps, HU Fayyum Kake, Wessex Gold Brick, and ODF Plug
Excuse me sir is that a plug in your pocket or are you just happy to see me!?

Plugs are the way to store and transport tobacco. I have found the finer the cut the better the smoke. More recently tried the Sam Gawith RB and it's a very smooth smoke, definitely a must try for the plug guy!

I finished off my cellar with a 50 pound order last Spring. Pick a couple of favorites and load up.
As if finishing a cellar is possible. HAHA.

Personally, I'd get a bunch of everything, instead a lot of a few favorite blends. My tastes keep changing. If I stocked up on what I loved 3 years ago, I'd be pretty bored. You are only talking about 6-8 pounds anyway.

Haven't bought any tobacco since. Once I hit 340 pounds, I closed accounts at several online retailers. Just a smoker here.
WOW! I suppose that would be enough. I'm in the 80 lb range, which is twice what I could ever smoke, but half of it I bought too early and I don't like it anymore. Plus, they keep coming out with more blends I want to try.

And I cracked open a 1999 Bells 3 nuns I lucked into, and it was dried out and terrible. I tried to rehydrate, but it molded like crazy. So that has me worried.

If it were me I’d probably order a whole ass load of SPC Plum Pudding and Special Reserve, at least 10 tins of Irish Flake, and a few lbs of Stokkebye Luxury Navy.

Fun fact: I recently told myself I’d only cellar blends that I know I love, and I’d stick to a prescribed budget. Last week I blew my budget on 10 tins of C&D 20th Anniv. XX Flake, which I haven’t smoked, so... don’t listen to a single thing I have to say. On anything. I’m a loose cannon with these future unobtanium blends.

Thanks for everyone's input. I'm definitely going to wait until my favorites are on sale and then pull the trigger, or until whatever law banning online sales finally passes but before it takes effect, whichever comes first.
