Preparing Sweet Coconut Twist To Smoke

Step by step preparation of Gawith Hoggarth & Co Sweet Coconut Twist

1. I bought it from Ken Byron Ventures. Ken packs in Mylar bags. So as a first step got the tobacco and my Opinel Carbon knife, whose sole purpose of existence is chopping tobacco . Using the back side of the chopping board to ensure our vegetables don’t smell like tobacco

2. Took out the tobacco from the bag, and unfolded the Opinel. Looks beautiful

3. Chopped the tobacco into nice thick coins!

4. Took two coins and tried to grind using a herb grinder. Fail - So back to old fashioned rubbing out by hand

5. Looks good, but too wet to smoke. So it goes in the microwave for 9 seconds!

6. Nice and ready - but which pipe? Finally I selected an Amphora X-Tra dedicated to strong burley and Kentucky

I’m having some tomorrow so this is perfect timing. I’ve never microwaved baccy, I normally just let it sit and dry. I’ll try the microwave way tomorrow

I prefer air drying also. I was in a hurry so it went in the microwave. Worked well.

Nice blend. I like to cut it into super thin coins that rub out into fine shag. I don’t dry it. Seems like the coconut almost disappears if I let it get too dry.

It’s really light to begin with. But yes, it’s a great smoke either way.

Never tried that. Might give it a whirl next time.

It falls into my sweet spot of strong Nicotine blends. Ample amount of Nicotine to make things interesting but less strong than Rustica which can be overwhelming. I should also open my brown rope I think

I have a plastic one that I gunked up that way. It doesn't slide as smoothly and it will mess up a cigar now.
