When I started posting here I set some rules for myself to go by.I wanted to post in a positive way that encouraged young pipe smokers, and maybe even eccourage someone to get involved in pipe smoking. Also I hoped that some who weren't posting would see that if an old country boy like me could post they could as well..No one critiques my posts more than I do.I feel that recently I posted a couple times when I may have had the opposite effect. They were my honest opinions but maybe I shouldn't have expressed them here.If I have offended anyone with these posts I sincerely apologize

This IS the place to express your opinion.
The forum would not exist were it not for members like yourself who are willing to

share opinions and experiences.
So, as weezell so aptly replied, KEEP ON POSTIN'! :)

There's nothing wrong with respectful discourse. I admit that there are topics that I avoid rather than stirring a hornet's nest. I've never found your posts to be controversial or contentious. To me, you speak from your heart and that works for the majority of us.

Let's face it, sometimes folks misread one's intent and that's the problem with reading versus hearing what a person says.

No need to apologize for sincere thoughts. Like weezel said, you're a good man and a fine contributor to this community. Be well and know that we do want to hear what you have to share.

1. Put tad or pad purchases in "what's in the mail" month thread, rather than starting a new thread.
2. Put what are you smoking in the "what are you smoking thread" month thread, rather than starting a new thread to state, hey, I'm smoking a bowl of this and enjoying it.
These are my major pet peeves with this forum, the amount of threads started that don't need to be started.

I find that odd. I have never read that thread and would never read it. I am sure I'm not the only one. If you have a new pipe or a major tobacco purchase, then start a new thread with a good title that tells me what the thread is about. That I would read. I am not sifting through a thread with umpteen pages to see what's new in it. Just my view.

What of tad and pad purchases come from a B&M, rather than online orders?
I'm with mr. Peckinpahhombre. On this one. I never look at those monthly threads.

I can't do the monthly threads either, especially the "what are you smoking?" JimInks posts in there umpteen times a day, the entire month, every month. Pretty easy to rack up posts when you get in a good 7-10 just on one thread every day for an entire month.
I'm with @peck, I personally like the singular PAD/TAD threads as well. They are focused and the responses are personal instead of just adding on whatever you had ... which is then lost amongst the pages of the entire month.

Keep the posts coming puffy. I'm glad to have ya!
I like the "What's in the mail thread" for what it is. The ability too see others purchases without a major discourse. If someone wants to post about their singular purchase that's fine too. I'd rather click on 1 thread than into 15 separate ones.

Puffy - I enjoy your posts quite a lot - you offer great perspective and experience. Like you, I sometimes hope I didn't offend others - sometimes I can be blunt. Actually - in "real" life, I can be too blunt - so I try to watch myself here but don't always succeed.

+1
I prefer new posts - I rarely check the ongoing ones.

I have always enjoyed your posts Puffy. While I may not always agree with them I do enjoy your delivery. If we all agreed on everything this would become a pretty boring forum rather quickly.
I also have to agree with Peck that the monthly posts are uninteresting (my words, not his). I would prefer a post where someone is excited with their haul and they want to share that excitement here. I commented on the "What are you smoking?" thread on Christmas Eve since I was up and was enjoying a bowl as the jolly ol' elf was making his way around the world.

I can be very blunt at times - it comes with the job description! That being said I have often wondered about the 'What are you smoking this month' thread. I always answer it the same way every month with a single phrase …. the same thing as last month. I am actually with Peck here in that I have never read the 'What's in the mail' thread as it looked like it might contain a bunch of Readers Digest people discussing the latest issue or worse still the entire online subscriber base for 'The Tablet' which I get in the mail so I can crack jokes about it. Maybe we should get rid of the 'What are you smoking this month' thread as it can be used as a post ratchet which is unfair on those who write very interesting articles and reviews unlike yours truly!

Discretion is the better part of valor when posting to a forum.

I get in trouble with what I think of as "humor" sometimes. What I find funny or clever isn't always seen as such by others. Particularly when crossing international and cultural borders. I try to check myself on those kind of replies, unless I really know the OP.

If you haven't rec'd any angry PM's, you are probably doing the right thing, so carry on!
And of course, following these guidelines in the sticky is always a good thing.

I too enjoy the "what are you smoking?" thread. I agree with rsuninv that it helps with ideas for nee blends to try. It's fun to see how blends tend to trend.

You're alright in my book puffy!

But like Al, sometimes what I think is funny is not very funny to others, so I too have to carefully edit myself. (sometimes not to successfully)

Apologies for any offense that my sometimes infantile mind may have posted.

puffy, I may have missed one or two of your posts, but I haven't seen anything offensive. It's true, Forums has a wide

variety of people from different nations, and of different ages, genders, races, political persuasions, and personalities--

to say the least. So it is always best to gear your posts to a wide array of folks, and still be your own interesting,

personable self. I try to steer clear of posts not related to pipes and tobacco, or at least keep the posts of general,

non-controversial interest. There are plenty of other outlets for political, philosophical, or religious discourse; it's

only fair to go to those for expressing those ideas.

puffy, you totally insult me with your posts and I find you to be a a poster who does nothing but piss me off. I never read your posts any more as your inane drivel is a total eyes sore.
Seriously, I love your posts and always look forward to reading them. You are definitely one of the good guys here.
