Latakia-free mild Cigar Leaf Blend
***************************************************************************************
"PLEASANT MOMENTS"
CIGAR-LEAF BASE-MIXTURE: (by weight) blend-
1- ounce Cigar Leaf (mild) or... chop up (mild) cigars.

1- ounce Cube-Cut Burley-(Stokkebye)

1- ounce Elizabethan (Dunhill or match blend)
Add to base mixture (by volume): For example....1-cup Base + 1-cup RLP-6 (or, your favorite aromatic blend)
1-part Base mixture

1-part RLP-6 (Lane Ltd.) or other aromatic blend
Mix/blend all tobaccos, and store in jar/container or press into a crumble cake and store for a few weeks or longer.
Very smooth, mild, creamy, rich, thick clouds of white smoke, no bite, toasty/oats, not too sweet or too aromatic... but great aroma, not as sweet as straight RLP-6, some vanilla, some molasses after taste. No buzz from nic-hit. Easy to light and stays lit. Cool. pleasant smoke, with sweet notes from top to bottom of bowl.
********************************************************************************
Economical to make using standard bulk tobaccos.
Enjoy some "PLEASANT MOMENTS"

Keeping things simple is my approach.

Sure, you want depth of flavor with contrasting notes that meld to provide your nic hit, but it's the

taste that really excites you.

My latest happy mixes have been using D&R blends together with blending perique, or just by themselves.

I've been using Latakia very sparingly lately, but I've found that RO's TastyKake makes a nice add to a mix in small doses.

I prefer to have the primary flavor to be pure tobacco, usually involving a sweet VA and Izmir or Burley, or all of the above.

Changing up pipes to try blends is always advisable before making a judgement.

I will add the aromatic- SWRA on occasion.

@thomasw:
Is there thread where you've posted the recipes for your various metal mixtures and other self-blended daily blends? It would be useful to read them in one place.
You're right; at some point I need to dig out the special notebook and open source these blends.

Eight years ago! Eeee-yow. I guess this is the Forums Blend Cookbook. Did I already say, equal parts quality Virginia and burley, plus a healthy pinch of unflavored black Cavendish, or proportions to suit you?

If you like English/Balkan blends, here's my Biplane Balkan.

1/3 each by weight

McC Yenice Agonya

McC Smyrna #1

Stokebbye latakia

For a lighter Balkan, I drop the latakia to 20 %

Has a great oriental forward herbs and olives flavor similar to the old Balkan Sobranie

Hello....
Recently tried my "Pleasant Moments" cigar-leaf base mixed with equal parts of Lane Ltd. "HGL" instead of "RLP-6".
Both the RLP-6 and HGL versions were great, but with the addition of a small amount of Latakia that's in the "HGL" turned this cigar-leaf blend into a very special smoke. Very enjoyable. The fragrant aromas coming from the mild, creamy smoke are pleasing to the smoker and the smellers.
XLNT!

This is one of my attempts to make a full bodied/fragrant "pipey" VAPer blend with some nicotine strength and plenty of VA character. It uses 4 different VAs prompting the name "Lucky 4 Leaf"

Bright yellow VA 6.66%

McClelland 2035 25.00%

McClelland 5100 15.00%

Perique 10.00%

GH Brown Irish X 26.69%

McClelland 605 Pastry 5.00%

McClelland 600 Special Black 11.65%
This one is great with 6+ mos of age. Very smooth and tasty!
