The Miami Herald humor writer Dave Barry and a group of his friends came up with this Talk Like A Pirate Day, and it took hold. Grim as it may sound, my late wife departed from the world on Sept. 19, the appointed day. Rather than feeling unsettled by this, I have always known she would have found it hugely amusing. She had one of the quickest most incisive wits I've ever experienced. After about ten years I remarried another wonderful and amazing woman with her own array of talents, among them buying pipe and tobacco gifts for me. I take no credit: the Goodly Power just assigned me incredible women and "told me" to do my best.
