I just called in this morning to cancel an order. It was more of me being impatient and kinda losing the zeal for what I purchased than any unhappiness with them. I did have to wait 30-minutes to speak with someone, but once I got through, she was amazingly helpful. Apparently, the new software they have for order pulling in the warehouse will not allow them to complete an order if even one item is missing (no partial ships, I guess?) Just adding this for anyone who might be feeling cagey about ordering from them.

They've had a history of issues with software updates that screwed up their deliveries. It's part of what began the animosity here. They need to get their act together, but the owner doesn't seem to care. My guess is they eventually close up. They're being run like a company whose leadership isn't interested in being around long term. It's kind of a shame. They stock blending tobaccos that I don't find elsewhere, unless I go the whole leaf route.

PC went down the tubes when it was bought out by Cigars International. CI was notorious in the cigar world for being probably the worst cigar retailer in the world.
Their way of doing business transferred to their buy out of PC. The only thing I buy there are pipe cleaners a couple times a year and some Obidisian stem oil. At one point before the buy out I was buying more from them that I did from SP and I loved SP. PC had better prices so that is where I went and I never had an issue until CI took over and wiped out my buying history which I used as a way to track what was in my cellar.
I predict that PC will be out of business within a year.

Just to balance the report here, I just ordered a pipe from them and it arrived right on schedule without missing a beat. It was on sale, and then they sent me an anniversary coupon for an additional discount, so I ordered the pipe. I think I got a dented tin one time, but mostly I've had good service, accurate and prompt.

Is this a normal thing? Is their service this bad typically?

I've posted some of the issues that I've had with P&C over the years, swore that I'd never use them again, and then I got an anniversary coupon recently (I'm a sucker for a bargain) so I placed an order.

Same timeline as you and experienced the same issue that you're having. Spent 45 minutes on hold waiting to speak with customer service, they said that they're having issues with their warehouse software and would forward the complaint to management. The package shipped later that day (upgraded to 2-day UPS, which brought a signature requirement along with it).

I'm REALLY not going to use them next time.

I’m so tired of people having software issues at this point though. That one is played out.

I've had dinged tins and back orders too. Overall though, they are the only shop that literally always has 10 percent off, which I've used countless times with no problem. As with most shops, they are not fully stocked due to demand, which makes large orders a pain. Plus, they have Russ, who is some kind of pipe tobacco magician. These days I usually order from Smoking Pipes, since they don't require a signature for delivery, which is entirely inconvenient when you work half the day and you're not home to accept packages.

Just searched my email and I’ve ordered three times and three good experiences since November. Normally don’t, but they had a Peterson tobacco sale that got me to order some tins to try, and looks like the Sutliff Spiced Rum I am about to have came from there, lol.

Sorry to hear about any bad experience, but even my latest “true love” back in the day couldn’t have kept me on the phone for 3 hours - you’ve got to have something better to do!

Yup. I’ve placed 3 orders with them in the last two months. The first two arrived in a few days. This last one was placed on the 8th and still has not shipped. Everything I ordered was in stock. I’ve tried emailing them twice with no response. I’ve ordered from them many times in past years with little to no trouble, but this one has left a bad taste in my mouth……

As long as smokingpipes and tobaccopipes exist, I can't ever see a reason for me to return to p&c.

Edit to add some background: I'd also like to add that P&c is the very first website I ever ordered tobacco from, and I used them almost exclusively for almost 2 years. Had a couple issues of canceled orders days after the fact. I've never had any real horror stories, but I've read enough of them, and paired with my bad experiences, I decided to take my business elsewhere.
