Yeah so every so often a dead solid perfect pipe comes along that is perfect in every way save for the price. If only I had a bottomless pipe and tobacco budget...I would surely purchase this beautiful and, to me, absolutely perfect pipe.

I do have a few hundred in the P&T budget, but I'd have to drain the P&T budget and then some to buy this pipe. I certainly am considering it, but it is unlikely that I will pull the trigger. I need tobacco and want to buy an old boy soon...but...ghhhhhuuuuuhhhhh...look at that beautiful Dunny just calling my name.

Yeah I have done some drooling over that pipe as well. I love Dunhill's blasts. The one and only Dunhill I own is a group 3 shell quaint. I love the look, feel and weight of it and it has never ever given me anything but a good smoke. I have lamented over many out of my price range Shells, Cumberlands and Ruby Barks over the years.

I watched a Preben Holm sell on ebay over the weekend. It went for over $1100.00.

Darn it. My first double tap.
Anywhoo.....I had serious pipe lust for that private collection pipe, but I don't have that kind of pipe budget.

Yeah see that's just insane. I suppose if I had lots of dough I would own a few similarly priced pipes, but I would still have a hard time spending that much on a pipe.

and a hard time smoking em too. budget pipes can be great also, i think the unconcious syche says "hey relax! bite a bit, puff harder it only cost a few squid" and because of that i usually enjoy one of my budgets more .....kind of like walking round in the nude, safe in the knowledge that you bolted the front door

not that i do, that but thats what i imagine it to feel like ...........
...what? 8O

Ohin3,

I hear you that pipe is as perfect as they get to me.. :worship: one day I will own a pipe just like that one... but as of today she still evades me...to much money, to many bills , to many obligations, not enough time to smoke!!! :crying:

I understand what you are saying Bjeorn, but I don't fuss over a pipe once I own it. I buy pipes to smoke not to keep pristine and act as a show piece. Sure I would be a bit more careful with a pipe that I paid $350.00 for just because I shelled out that much dough for it. I keep all my pipes in good condition because I love them all equally. And eh...for the record, I do walk around the house naked with the curtains open and the door unlocked. If you don't want to see me naked you shouldn't be peeking in my windows or walking in my door unannounced.

Those are some gorgeous freehands. as it stands my local b and m just got a full set of the peterson sherlock holmes meershcaums in. I wanted to cry. As consolation, I received a sample of continental mixture from G and H, or is it sam gawith? either way its nice similar to squadron leader. Point is, those meerschaums.... I've already got the three pipes I'm committed to buying this year, but I would really consider one if they still have them soon.

Certain pistol grip shapes: there's one that Armellini made, the Surmeller. I have a pic but can't get it to upload. It was $110.00 ten years ago, can't find one like it anywhere now.

Juni, I've seen those "Great Explorer" pipes for sale fairly reasonably. Maybe not the whole set you might be able to assemble it piece by piece.
At the Chicago show this year, one of the first tables I looked at was Todd Johnson's. He had about a half dozen pipes for sale between $1800 and $3800. I laughed thinking the guy is NEVER going to get that kind of money. I came back about an hour later and they were ALL sold.
It just goes to show you, charge what the market will bear.

One like this is most definitely quite out of my price range but oh so beautiful.
