Looks like we lost a couple of paintings on this page. I was able to get the George Caleb Bingham, the Quandry. I'm still trying to find another source for the Peto. If not, we have enough of his work.

Will this page ever flip to a new one? This loading is ridiculous. Of course, if this shows up on page 6, I'm the one who will look ridiculous. Since most posts are images and the whole thread is a way for us to amass this wonderful collection, maybe a moderator can make the pages shorter so they won't take so long to load.

Loving the Pieter Claesz – Still Life – 1667. I'm pretending the fish are trout, instead of the herring that they probably are, so it seems more appetizing. Though, I did have some excellent pickled herring on two occasions, those little guys look roasted and darn fishy.
My favorite part of George Caleb Bingham's The Quandry is the right background. It reminds me of some of the dreamy twilight Twain describes in Huck Finn. Very relaxing.

That Van de Velde is haunting me. That bread looks soooo good. My bread never turns out like that. He needs to watch those embers next to that open tobacco case. That stuff is expensive in 1650.
