Nice to see some Repin here. I got to see a lot of his stuff at the Russian Museum in St. Petersburg. Most of it was massive (in size) and overwhelming in sheer technique.

It was my introduction to him and I am amazed at this crowd scene. I haven't seen many other artists that put such detail and wonderment in each individual in that crowd. Like doing thirty portraits for one painting. I'll definitely be looking at more of his work.

It's nice he includes pipe smokers in his crowd scenes, also. We all know between 1860 and the 1980's any crowd would have at least one, if not several, pipe smokers.
