Franz Defregger (Ederhof 1835-Munich 1921) was an Austrian painter who was born in a Tyrolean farm.
In 1860 - after two years his father died - he sold the farm sharing the money with his sisters ( who wanted to emigrate to America) and moved to Innsbruck.
Even if he spent most of his life in towns, he spent time even in East Tyrol where he portaied friends and country life scenes. In these paintings often appear pipes, above all Tyrolean shapes.
