Cobs are fine for some, they’re a love em or hate em, so up to you.

SmokingPipes.com has a price brand shape filters, have a look there. Enter what filters you want.

My money is on Erik the Red (or brown) for a sitter poker, 78 bucks stunning pipe, but they sell fast and are currently not in, but probably next shipment.

Tasting pipe finish while smoking is never a good sign😀

BTW, it is a smaller pipe, 44 g, compared to Nording free-hands that are huge. Rossi also has some affordable sitters, but bigger and not sure if in.

There are lots of options - it really depends on your preferences and what works for you.
And your budget.

This is a sitter, but not a comfortable clencher.
Cobs are a cheap option, will take some abuse. And if you run your mower over it, can be replaced easily.

These nosewarmers are very lightweight, but are not sitters. Easily a 25-30 minute smoke

This has a large bowl and is a very comfortable clencher but won’t sit.

These 2 Peterson Short series are good looking, but I don’t consider them work pipes

Short Lovats are comfortable clenchers. You can find ones that will sit. These are all under 5ins in length

That's a good looking pipe. I hope it's back in stock soon

Put this in SPcom’s search bar:
“Ropp Etudiant”

J07 and J11 are amazing work pipes.

you’re welcome.
I have a Ropp Etudiant J16.

The only thing I don't like is that the stem is vulcanite, which to me is not the best material for a putt-around beater pipe. Can't leave/forget it in the car, can't leave it just laying out on the table, etc unless you like de-oxidizing stems.

Actually was thinking yesterday about contacting someone and sending it off to have an acrylic stem made for it, but not sure as I paid just $50 for the pipe and I have more important things to spend money on.

Otherwise I agree, those Ropp Etudiant pipes are great workhorses: inexpensive, smoke well, don't look like trash.
