Forgive my out of town question... What is it the retailer did wrong?

The retailer likely reacted to the overnight FDA age jump on tobacco products to 21 and the anti-P&C crowd took that as a chance for another dog pile.

I got my order, no signature required, but California and other states are now requiring adult signatures on delivery, regardless of whether the vendor has previously been age verified or not.

But hey, let the dog pile grow. If you have ever said to yourself, “I’ll never do business with P&C again”, stay strong!

I know, I know.....

It's my fault for thinking anything would change, but they are the only ones selling Hansom Flake and I wanted some to give away for a birthday present for my buddy (who hinted around that he wanted some) so I broke my own rule and bought from P&C again.

I paid extra for the Priority shipping so that it would arrive before the party which is today. I bought more than 5 tins, thinking that would increase the odds of getting at least 2 tins that were not dented from their pi$$ poor and negligent packing department. I watched the USPS tracking every day to be sure it was on time and there was not going to be any hitches in the process.

Everything was A-OK...... UNTIL.....

The mailman arrived at my house (No one home but I have security cameras that alert me when some enters my property so I knew he was there). he went up to the door, banged on it, and then left a note stating "Signature Required"

WTH???? I have put up with their crappy service for over $4 grand's worth of tobacco and pipes during my first 6 months of pipe smoking and while everything else imaginable has gone wrong in my dealings with them, I have lost a package and I have NEVER had to sign before!

I get on the Website to get Customer service number. The website says Cust Service is open until 7pm weekdays. Cool. Call them up, punch the buttons for Customer Service and a recording says Customer Service is only open until 5pm on weekdays.

SOMEBODY SLAP ME FOR BEING SO STUPID!

I don't care if they are giving away my Birth Year in a Dunhill Dead Root 4 Stars, I WILL NEVER GET SUCKED INTO DOING BUSINESS WITH THESE GUYS AGAIN. There are just too many fine tobacconists out there to have to put up with their sh*t :poop:. I am SOOO DONE!

I guess I will just give my buddy a tin or 2 of Esoterica for his Birthday.... The irony here is he WANTED the Hansom Flake so I am afraid the Esoterica will be sort of a disappointment...

Okay, Thanks for letting me get this out. ?
that signature is cause you bought the higher grade delivery option. I've had that problem before.

it's an option that the seller can pick if they want helps with people claiming they never got the package. Creates a paper trail. Probably do that with limited availability high demand products. You know the kind scammers would buy or steal to gouge us later on price.

I called and they said someone put an age verification sticker on by accident. Didn't see that I had already been verified. Once again it was the shipping department. It's all better now because they said they were sorry. ?

Here are some pics:

As you can see, I started taking pics before it was even opened. The clerk at the USPS said it sounded like something was broken inside...

Anyway, This is what was inside:

The box looks great!

This is how it was packed:

My estimation of 2 out of 5 being presentable enough to give away was SPOT ON almost.... Actually only one arrived unscathed but there was a second that would do..

NOTE: The 2 tins you see that were ACTUALLY WRAPPED were RO Acadian tins. So now I know where the value threshold of proper packaging kicks in.... It's $20 bucks per tin.

Am I out of line? I think not.

Those of you that say you have never had a problem with P&C either have very low standards for Retail Quality of Service or perhaps the Packing team that service my area needs a tune up because I have not had a SINGLE SHIPMENT FROM THEM THAT INCLUDED TINS OR GLASS THAT DID NOT HAVE A PROBLEM. NO LIE! (READ: Bulks excluded)

On the flip side, I have NEVER had a single problem with any other Mail order Tobacconist.

Once under the microscope a business must work 4 times as hard as the best competitor for Consumer redemption or face certain doom.

Greetings folks,

I made my first P&C purchase this past week, the first in over a year, and it arrived today. As I watched the mailman walk towards my front door I could see that he was holding the box kind of funny and once he got closer I could see the box barely taped together and a pack of pipe cleaners jutting out from the side of the box. He actually pushed it back inside the box and gently set it on my porch. I went outside to bring it in and there was a single strand of tape running across the top that was only affixed to one of the two pieces of cardboard, the corner was torn, and the bottom of the box had nothing reinforcing the flimsy cardboard pieces that were folded together on assembly. I couldn't believe it. It was the worst packing job of anything I have ever had delivered to the house.

Thankfully all I ordered were 100 packs of pipe cleaners (stocked up with that 20.20% IPSD sale). I was convinced several packs must have fallen from the poorly assembled box in route and had my kids dump the box to count how many were in there. Miraculously, all of them were accounted for.

Ridiculous.

When I get something in those square G&H style tins they’re often slightly dented, regardless of the vendor, IME. The guys on my UPS route tend to be overly rough on packages so most packages show some level of distress. No problems with FedEx or USPS.

That being said they could’ve packed that box better.

That is a real shame they packaged it like that. It wasn't that many years ago when PC customer service was as good as SP. Since they were bought out by Cigars International they have been a complete shit show.
This is standard packing...Sometimes the Tins are OK and sometimes ?....Of all the sites I shop...Shipping from P&C does not cut it. I buy at P&C at my own Risk.

Ah geez. P&C sucks. I’m surprised anybody buys anything from them anymore.
Oh wait, no I’m not. Even money says next time a wet panties alert flashes across the interweb stating some unobtainium is at P&C, half you never againers will be posting your haul.
Happens every time.
