Yes, he's busy. Also he has serious medical issues that can prevent him from repairing pipes. Be patient it will be worth it.
With the sheer number of pipes available at online retailers. it is likely you can find many that fill the bill as is. Many brands at a named site have pages of pipes in many shapes, finishes, sizes, and at many price levels. Have the patience to spend a few days looking without buying anything. It could be a whole new day.
