Pipe Smoking & Shivering, It's That Time Of Year Again!

Nope, this isn't about smoking in the cold (well maybe for some of you but it's still over 80 here).

Halloween is probably my most favorite time of the year.

A pipe with a nice blend, a good drink, sitting on the back patio on a nice evening, and listening to a spooky story is pretty much nirvana for me. With that in mind I thought I'd start a thread with the intent of posting at least one story I like every day until Halloween so like minded people can enjoy. Sort of a virtual pipe/book club if you will.

To kick things off here's my favorite reading of Poe's classic "The Raven" narrated by Christopher Lee. The Raven read by Dracula, what's not to like? So pour a glass of something you enjoy, pack a good blend, kick back and enjoy.

Yes halloween is my favourite time as well. And it's starting to get cold here too! About 40°f midday(down near 20 at night) and I'm in one of the warmest places in canada(near vancouver)

When I lived up north, I enjoyed this time of year very much. Changing leaves, changing temperatures, spooky decorations and spooky stories made it a lot of fun.

I dread the cooler weather. Shorts and in the MGB last night, but that ends tomorrow. So, we're heading to Louisiana for a week on Wednesday for a little respite.

I'm thinking it's going to be a 2 story night but starting with one that's a little unique. It's actually a really good story but unsettling nonetheless.

I used to love Halloween and Horror movies. Not anymore. Halloween is cool, but my job has me seeing things horror movies only hoped for. My gf loves them so we compromise.

But I love sitting on the patio with a good pipe some bourbon and a heater at my feet while watching movies from the 30’s- mid 70’s.

One more for tonight. This is my personal favorite story by Lovecraft but that's probably because I like cats.

Wearing a jacket is way easier than actively fighting for your life as insects try to eat your flesh.

Winter is the best time for Pipesmoking, once there's permanent snow on the ground all you have to do is wait for a sunny day that's only just below freezing and carve your chair out of a snowdrift.
You can sit there and dump embers all over the place and blow fire everywhere without a care in the world.

Great idear for a thread. I love this time of year too! Good time for ghost stories paired with a warm pipe.
