I can’t recall if I was smoking while trying to conceive, but definitely stopped when the pregnancy was confirmed.
Started smoking (cigars) after both boys finished school.
Back to pipes 5 years back.

I'm no help on this conversation even though I have three gorgeous children because I would of been drinking and smoking and all that leads to sex and last time I looked if you did enough of the latter then pretty soon afterwards babies appear. Of course this then leads to more drinking and smoking and its quite a difficult merry go round to get off!

I think making your wife comfortable, within reason, is what’s best for your family.
What I or anyone else did is immaterial to what you need to do.

All I can say is please do us all a favor. DO NOT take your kid to any breweries or decent restaurants until you can keep them from yelling, screaming, crying or running around. No joke, most of us do not what to deal with it in those environments.

I was smoking about 2 packs of cigarettes, and drinking a 12 pack of beer a day, and smoking 4 or 5 blunts when I heard the news of my baby boy.

I pretty much quit drinking/smoking weed after he was born, but I smoked cigarettes on the way home from the hospital.

My wife at the time quit smoking, until about the 7th month... I came home from work for lunch and the house was full of smoke. I laughed about it, and life just went on. My boy is totally healthy and sharp. So IDK... "They" say a lot of of shit that they don't know.

That was pretty much my lifestyle when I got my five boys, minus the weed. They turned out fine. Bible thumpin, pick up truck driven, gun totin country boys. Pipe smoking only when my daughter, number six, was born. Oldest is 30, youngest is 7.
Just get on with it.

No worries there. I’m overly aware of others in situations like that, so there’s no way I’d bring a kid along with me if there’s a chance they’re going to scream or be annoying in any way.
