Pipe Pics in 1980's Playboy's. (No Nudes)

I'm spending this afternoon going through some Playboys from the 1980's looking for pipes, pipe tobacco ads and pics before they go in the trash.

There are some pics of Hugh smoking a pipe. We've all seen pics of Hugh smoking a pipe. Here are some other pics and cartoons of pipes.

I flipped through about eight Playboys, a daunting task, and I found only seven pipe references in two issues.

The pic of the surgeon on the bike is full page. I may cut it out and frame it for my smoking room/enclosed porch.

I can’t help wondering whatever happened to that straight-grain Dunhill. In today’s money, it would have been equivalent to around $6000. I can’t imagine what it would be worth today, 40 years later.

Scott, I wouldn't trash those mags, have you seen how much certain copies go for on Ebay?

I once ditched a whole suitcase full of Playboy, Mayfair, Penthouse etc from the 80's, and have been kicking myself ever since!

My son said the same thing..."sell them on the bay". I told him to take them home and sell them. Too much of a hassle for a few bucks. He doesn't want to sell them either.

LOL, when I was in junior high and my mom’s dad was moving off the farm to town, he brought a box of Playboys from his shed, lol, and gave them to my Dad, who really didn’t want them. I casually asked him if I could have them - nope! Well, since there were a lot of them and a few this way or that wouldn’t be noticed, and he was taking them to the “dump” anyway next time he went, many just sort of didn’t make there.

It's both exotic & revealing, it's the 'thinking man's' gentleman's magazine with serious articles on cars and other male pursuits alongside lots of pretty young ladies. Their 'Quest' section was a real hoot to read!
