And second to that, by just a hair, is the constant assertion that Lakeland blends taste like soap.
frozen, I totally agree, Lakelands do not taste like soap, they taste and smell like a 90 year old lady who died and then rotted away for a week in her apartment befor being discovered.
mayfair70, I bet there are more guys getting throat cancer from eating too much pussy than smoking a pipe, go look up that stat. hehehe

Since I've already thrown in my 2 cents on the health issue, I think I should clarify a bit.

I've never had an experience with smoke where it didn't seem to hurt me, whether that be campfires or car exhaust, as far as I can tell concentrated smoke will destroy any living thing it touches.

But as far as I'm concerned it's not much different from exposure to the sun, I've seen plenty of people with bits of their face missing after spending most of their lives outdoors. The question isn't how to avoid hazards entirely, we all know that's impossible, the question is how to take reasonable risks that enable gainful living.

And second to that, by just a hair, is the constant assertion that Lakeland blends taste like soap.

Not just any old soap. This is where the description has gotten whittled down as it has been through the rumor mill. Anyone who has tasted it first hand will tell you that it tastes specifically like the pink soaps sold in the 70's to little old ladies to put in their bathrooms for decoration. It conjures up memories of pink frilly bathrooms, nasty smelling pink soap, and an enema/douche bag hanging on the side of he bathtub.

Not just any old soap.

I don't really have any peeves, but if I ever get a dog I'll name him Peeves and begin a thread about my pet Peeves :)

@cigrmaster -
I take medical research very seriously. According to the New England Journal of Medicine, the instances of cunnilingus induced throat cancers are on par with those cases arising from fellating the species Ursus americanus, the American Black Bear. Both cases were anecdotal. Since Michael Douglas recanted his allegations this left only one case study. The Black Bears I spoke with said you had absolutely no trouble swallowing, so I have to ask if you have noticed any hoarseness in your speaking voice or have any unusual lumps in your throat (that is aside from the huge wads of bear splooge)? Please answer truthfully, as this is for science.

How prevalent is HPV-positive throat cancer?

Over the past decade there has been at least a four- to five-fold increase in the number of oropharynx cancers in the US. The oropharynx includes the tonsils and the base of the tongue. The increase in these cancers is a result of HPV infection. Almost all of these cancers are caused by HPV16, a subtype of the HPV virus. Research indicates that approximately 70 percent of cases of oropharynx cancer is caused by HPV16.

I do not believe one can catch HPV16 from too much. It's more than likely just eating the wrong one. Now, if someone can just locate that problem one we can solve the problem. There's no such thing as too much. Someone find the carrier! And, quickly!

That is a very informative page, I'm glad you posted it. I agree with Warren, its not how much you eat, it's whether said vagina is infected or not. It also says the signs and symptoms are the same whether the cancer is from HPV, Alcohol or TOBACCO.
My "facts" to cigrmaster were improvised to infer he sucked bear dicks, not as a PSA.

BTW- I don't have HPV and I ate quite a bit.

My pet peeve is pipe smokers who think they won't get cancer or heart disease because they don't inhale.
(Me) Since non-smokers can get either or both, do you have research showing a high incidence of those diseases among pipe-only smokers?
In my opinion, there is ample peer-reviewed research proving pipe smokers have a higher incidence of mouth, lip, tongue and throat cancers in relation to the general population.
I can accept that with no further research undertaken! For whatever reason, I read into "cancer" "lung cancer", which you did not even imply. My bad.
But the heart disease statement still makes me wonder if there's distinct cause and effect, or that pipe smokers have other qualities that make them prone to heart disease.
Thanks for your offer to be my Google guide, but this weekend we are full up with guests and Premier League Football.

Pipe pet peeves? None. I don't smoke socially so any pet peeves would be about online forums. I don't bother.

I was worried I stepped on your toes somehow, you always seem calm and rational. :)
I know nicotine in the bloodstream causes rapid and weaker heartbeat. Considering our head has so much blood flow from nourishing the brain, just a pipe will get lots o nicotine into the blood through the mucous membranes in the mouth and sinuses. I'm guessing its repeated exposure to tobacco, environmental factors and genetic predisposition which combine to cause cardiopulmonary problems. I'm just pissing in the wind at this point, that HPV business took the wind outta my sails.

Calm, huh??? WTF!!!! Rational, why you *^&^$(-%#@!! I totally resent that assertion!
I do appreciate your sentiment. Thanks.
Oddly enough, a GF who remains a good friend was involved in HPV research in the Bay Area. Maybe we all do have it! IIRC, we gents can spread it, but don't suffer from it.

Well it makes perfect sense then, I haven't seen any of these mythical hygiene things in my life (or at least not one that I recognized).
So if anyone doesn't have unfortunate memories of finding unmentionables from dark places, then a Lakeland blend is going to be fantastic.

Having minimal prior experience with floral essences, on the rare occasion that my mother does use perfume, my first thought when I show up at church is "Mum smells like tobacco!" One time I nearly said it out loud.

Dr. Fred Hanna only has positive things to say about nicotine and the effects it has on humans. Check out the interview on the Pipes Magazine Radio Show. Some doctors say it's a "wonder drug", supposedly stimulating cognitive function as well as a great deal of other health benefits. Nicotine is also very common in everyday foods we eat. In this link HERE you will not only have access to the show I am referring to, but a whole bunch of links referencing the positive benefits that nicotine has on the body.
BTW this thread is pretty freakin' funny!
