Would you rather buy a pipe in a package or on the shelf with out a package? What would be the general use of a package for a pipe? Is there a secondary function of a package for a pipe? What are the pros and cons of having a pipe in a package?

By package do you mean box? Or pipe case? I use my old boxes for lighters, extra cleaners and things like that. I have way to may pipe 'socks' or the leather bags if you will, but it's nice to have one or two laying around.

I definantly would want a pipe in a box or package when purchasing.. IMHO it helps to protect it if you have to move or if you trade or sell it to a fellow piper.. As well as adds to the pipes value if sold as an estate...

Thank you for the posts. This has helped a lot with my research. I have another question... What was the reason you started pipe smoking in the first place? What influenced you?
