Most of the time the only reason a pipe is graded "better" than another is aesthetics, and they all smoke about as well as a Rossi.

There are many reasons someone might buy a pipe. I buy them to smoke them and grading doesn’t mean a lot to me. Sometimes I might buy one just because I like something about it. Others buy pipes never to be smoked but be part of a collection. I imagine their selection process is very different from mine. If you have a pipe that you enjoy more than the other luxuries you could have chosen to spend that money on you’ve won. Everyone’s budget is different as well as tastes. This doesn’t seem to be like the emperor walking around naked, just subjective taste in luxury items.
