I don't care for much of a cake in my pipes either. Many of us don't, and that seems to have become an increasingly popular position. I certainly don't let any cake in my pipe build up to the thickness of a dime or a nickel or whatever coin is used for comparison.

Some of my pipes do have a thin cake, but that's really just the result of smoking them regularly without scrubbing out the bowl every time. When it gets thick enough, I'll scrape it out with a dull blade which is on some of the pipe tools for that purpose. Sometimes, wiping the bowl out regularly enough after a warm water rinse (or alcohol if that's your thing) is enough to decrease the cake.

Here's a chance for one more post to add to your collection.
Do you like meat pie, tweetie pie, or sweetie pie ?
:ROFLMAO:
I like them all most likely. But I don't, I repeat DON'T like a meatie sweetie.

And isn't quiche basically an egg pie with a French name? I love egg pies too. So in the aforementioned replies, ya'll now know I like pumpkin, cranberry, egg and meat pies.

Not hairpies. They're so 70's.

That sounds pretty similar. I really don't know how long it would take, but if I let the cake build up to the thickness of a dime I really don't think it would add anything for me. Maybe I really do "get something" from the briar, and therefor I prefer it more naked. On the other hand, I have really enjoyed my 1 meer I've begun smoking and damned if I don't think the cheap-ass $3.25 cob I have isn't one of my best, and I do mean my most pleasurable smokers.

Ok, as far as pies go I make lots of pumpkin pies and cranberry pies coming up this time of year. Sometimes from scratch. Was great when I could use one of my own home grown pumpkins. But you might be surprised at how well even most of the "decorative" pumpkins can taste after they've provided a little scenic delight. But from scratch it's a multi-step process; easier from the can of course. On a more pertinent note, I have yet to wash a pipe with water, but I do have one that's on the smallish side .......
Would love your cranberry recipe!!

Would love your cranberry recipe!!
It's the simplest of any pie I make. 2 cans of whole berry cranberry, I get organic if I can but that's just me. Use exactly the same spices that you would use in a pumpkin pie: cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, star of anise, and I think a little allspice - all to your taste. Sweeten as desired with honey, syrup, agave, or molasses for a "darker" flavor. (I actually usually skip the sweetener so I can claim it's healthy and not really a dessert.) Stir it up in a bowl and pour into ready made crusts. I especially like them in a crushed pecan or crushed walnut shell.
What the hell am I doing sharing recipes on a pipe tobacco forum?
Cheers

It seems I'm being helped along by the community. (Thanks to all.) And I've honestly tried to make everything relevant.
I don’t even respond to everything my wife says!

Read the rules - all you need to do is post (once!) in the Santa thread you want to participate but don’t meet the criteria unless you get the requisite vouching. If a kind soul meeting the criteria does so, you are in - pending not screwing up filling out the requisite forms!

Well my understanding was that there was also a minimum of 75 posts required as a prerequisite. No worries, I'll be signing up soon after getting to that #. And based on what I've seen in other threads, my multiple comments and replies don't seem to be out of line in any manner and I'm currently having fun with the interactions.
