Appears Peterson's really upped their game then.?
Indeed they have.

How serious are they? They are contacting qualified people wherever they find them for technical feedback about exactly how to up their game.

Not in trivial ways, either. SP's one-time general manager Joshua Burgess---who has since been put in charge of the entirety of Peterson's---went into considerable depth with me this past Spring about several production-related issues. NOT about how to do things faster and easier, but how to do them BETTER.

The word "impressed" comes to me rarely these days, but impressed I definitely was. Josh is very bright, knows exactly what matters and what doesn't, and drawing straight lines between points to get things done appears to be his specialty. Notably, his desire to accomplish that while respecting & retaining the values of the company in historical terms was equally important.

From what I've seen, the 21st century having not been kind to the PipeWorld has simply been taken as a challenge by the people at Peterson's and revved them up, not discouraged them.

Go Pete.

And Go Sikes! :col:

I was fortunate enough to pick up one of the Nassau special editions last year which was one of the first batch of pipes to receive some of their new sandblast process. I also picked a Army Heritage Filter sandblast when they were released. I tell you this... the new Pete's aint foolin around with the quality of the sandblast or the pipes.

I've been smoking primarily Peterson pipes for almost 20 years and I have been very much impressed with the recent quality coming out of their factory.

Now if only I had a few dollars more to spend.

I checked around noon and there were plenty. I've never been one to want multiple pipes of the same shape albeit with different finishes. But, though I already have a walnut XL02 spigot, the XL02 spigots they had available then almost could have led to an exception for me. If able to have chosen between the smooth walnut XL02 and the Rua, would have still picked the walnut, however.

Thank you for this. And thank you for being so generous with your time and advice, George. We were spinning in circles on that one--something Peterson had last done decades ago--and Josh and I were sitting in his office (in the US) trying to figure out who to ask (Josh had already asked all the older guys in the factory and only came up with part of the process) when one of us realized that it's the sort of thing a really good, experienced pipe repairman would know, at which point it was obvious Josh should call you.

Thanks so much for being a resource for Peterson.

The Rua line is a good example of the great strides you're making.

Loved the aesthetic of the Rua line. Fortunately I really don't care for red pipes. I'm still buzzing on the Walnut Spigot I got a few weeks ago.
