It curiously missing the Hibernia and Harp symbols. The shape of the square would put it 1968 and forward. The two points on top are clearly there. The distraction for me is the lower left has a severe cut in towards center then a tail out to the left. Its 1985 or 2005 U. Can you compare the size of the square to any other pipes ? P.S. I'm just giving my thoughts and how I would guess and not an expert. Interesting pondering.
I pondered that too but as the picture is limited I withheld guessing on it. I have an earlier Donegal Rocky with the smother rustication. Later it became deeper per PPN. The Peterson Stamp on the stummel looks more modern too.It curiously missing the Hibernia and Harp symbols.
I think you are right at 2005 - the rustication is more that style.
I think you might have something here!Is it possible that isn't a letter at all but the 'craftmen' (??) symbol distorted ???

If that's the case wouldn't the date letter be missing on the right ? Curiouser and curiouser ...
I recon that one is 2003 .925 stamp was not used in 1980s only since 2002The pipe has not been restored yet, here's the full picture from the seller. There's definitely not a worn off date symbol.

I only have one Rocky Donagal with the block "PETERSON" stamped on the silver. All the other Rocky Donagal's that I have worked on do not have the PETERSON name stamp, only the K&P. The stamping and rustication styles are identical to this one.
So, I suspect this one is from the 1980's.

I'm pretty sure the 'harp' was replaced with the .925 symbol in 1992, but you might be right that they began using the oval one in 2002. I have owned a couple of Petersons with the .925 stamp and no date hallmark. Here's a strange one that I kept only because of the odd hallmarks. I purchased it from a closed shop's NOS that dated mostly to the late 1980's/early 1990's.I recon that one is 2003 .925 stamp was not used in 1980s only since 2002
