I too received a visit from the big brown truck today. I received two tins each of the Summertime, Christmas, and Special Reserve. This is the first time I have ordered these limited edition Peterson's. I was surprised to learn the tin is hinged on one side and opens and closes with ease. The tobacco itself is enclosed in a clear bag and neatly tucked in the tin. I'll post some pics when I get a chance for those who haven't seen the packaging.
For those who have smoked these Peterson seasonals before, can you store them sealed in their tins for long term or should they be immediately transferred to jars? I don't plan on breaking the seal on the bag anytime soon, but I don't want them to dry out on me either.

Just received my Peterson Santee Claus tins (2) today, along with other blends I wanted to try. :D

I wonder if one could keep them in the original tin and just keep the tin in a sealed Ziplock bag?

Thanks for the recommendation Roth! Time to grab me some ball jars.
Those sure are some cool looking tins though. Peterson gets an A+ for packaging.

I have had a couple of the Summertime Blend. I am not much of an aro guy but I sometimes get the itch and I find this to be another quality Peterson tobacco. The mango comes off very nicely while smoking. To me it is a very nice, light kind of aroma...... Not too sweet or cloying. It is very nice on a hot summer day. The rum adds just enough sharpness (?) that you are not left with an overly sweet taste on your lips. I definitely see myself enjoying this over the rest of the summer. Overall it is a very well mixed refreshing smoke!

I just opened a 2012 Summer tin and it was fine and ready to smoke. Didn't much care for it last summer when I bought it but its great right now.

Good to hear the Summertime is good. Last year's wasn't so great. For me it gave a nasty lime flavor for the first half of the bowl. I was skeptical about the lime flavoring when I heard of it and I definitely wasn't wrong, the lime should have been left in the coconut and not put into the tobacco.

I received my tins yesterday.
Of course I cracked open the Special Reserve right away. I had a bowl last night and a bowl this morning. The only complaint I have is it is a bit on the moist side. Drying time is surely required for the best smoke. Other than that though, the flavor transfer was great and it was another good balance of leaf and top dressing flavors. It definitely is a peach schnapps like flavor. Very good though with a wonderful room note.
I haven't tried the Summertime blend yet, and I'm planning on jarring the Holiday Season until it's actually closer to the holiday season lol. I might crack one of my two tins for the West Coast Pipe Show to enjoy and share.

I ordered the holiday blend. Not a big aro guy but smoked the 2012 holiday blend at Christmas last year and the wife loved it. I will probably need to tone it down a bit with some Carter Hall, but am hoping this one is as good as last year.

Has anyone tried the "Holiday season" yet? I am interested in a review.
I got some last year and sure enough it tasted and smelled to much like potpourri for me, cheap Potpourri. I find that with the majority of Peterson's Aro's. On the other hand I am keeping a close eye for McClellend's Holiday line up. I find theirs to be top notch.

McClelland's Christmas Cheer is a straight Virginia of the highest quality they could find that year. If you're not an aro guy that might be why you prefer McClelland's Christmas offering over Peterson's.

@lordofthepipering I mainly am a Aro guy, i just find Peterson's all to taste and smell to "fake", like dollar store potpourri. The Christmas blend last year..the apple smell and "cinnamon" was so fake smelling it was almost nauseating, it was like a Glade Christmas jelly air freshener cone.
I like Christmas Cheer for its simplicity yet complexity, but I also really dug McCelland's "Holiday Blend" last year - which is an Aro's. Alot more natural casing flavor and smell.

I finally got my order in. Luckily I had them in my shopping cart from when they came out as the price jumped from 16.90 to 19.20. A more than 13% increase. Not that 19.20 is a big deal but I think that's a pretty sizable jump in price. After shipping I still payed less for my 3 tins than if I didn't have them already in my shopping cart.

I didn't know McClelland started doing an aromatic holiday offering. All I've heard of McClelland doing is Christmas Cheer which is a straight non-cased Virginia. What's the name of their aromatic holiday offering?
