? I don’t think they even use copper sulfate anymore. It’s copper azole compounds, and all sorts of other nastiness. I don’t mind it in the lumber, but I’d keep it away from anything that I might consume.

I've actually had the pleasure of having a glass or two of this with Mark Ryan at the L.A. Poche Perique facility in St. James Parish. It is an absinthe based liqueur and if I could find it I would keep it one hand.

The problem is finding it in the U.S. or getting it shipped to you because of all the state regulations.

Oh man, I can’t tell from the pictures, but I really hope he didn’t let that pressure-treated fence post come in contact with the tobacco. I would definitely use something else as a spacer if doing it that way. They put some really nasty chemicals into pressure-treated lumber.

While you raise a valid concern, the chap who did that is incredibly sensible. One of the big reasons he grows/cures/ferments his own is to avoid the chemicals that are added so he takes pains not to add anything unecessary to his.

We were discussing earlier in this thread that whole leaf tobacco had sent back their barrel. The new barrel has arrived and he is replacing orders that were previously returned. Too bad you can't smell a photo yet.

This is the nicest Perique we've ever had. It's the closest thing to "straight laid" Perique you'll ever find and the aroma is fantastic. Everyone who has not received a refund already will receive a replacement for the spoiled Perique you received.

They sent me a replacement for my previous purchase. I can confirm the new barrel is very good. It's the best perique I've been able to find that is currently produced and readily available.

A nice, strong "barnyard" aroma and gorgeous multicolored leaves. I gave mine a good chop and jarred it for a nice Winter's slumber.
