My pipe collection, or rather a heap of briars, has been perfect from the day one. They are 99.99% Peterson. How can I go wrong?
Of the 28 favorite pipes I smoke weekly, 24 are Peterson.
Even those become too much for my teeth these daysBut the J07 is not a full bent
To my relative noob-ish (4 years into pipesmoking) opinion, it al depends on your smoking habits; frequency, blends, smoking technique (wet/dry, pace, do you let the pipe get hot), prefered material and how much of a horder you are. Those factors are highly debateable, not starting a discussion about ghosting and drytime of the pipe here as I dont think I have any evidence other than my opinion. I think someone who smokes goopy aromatics wet as a drying towel after doing dishes might need more or different pipes than a all virginia smoker which keeps an infrared thermometer at hand for checking the temperature of the pipe every minute. Those are extremes ofcourse, but just a indication how different we can be.
I have 10ish now. I dont need more and could even do with less, as I could smoke my 2 favorite meers 80% of the time. With my meers I dont mind smoking them more than once a day or even back to back, where 2 bowls is the most I smoke at the moment. Im not a big aromatic smoker (here and there a vanilla one like MB spuncuts), I do like english mixtures, so maybe 2 for englishes and 3 for the rest. But then again, everytime I see how Castello makes a chubby pipe look great (and I like long pipes more) the PAD itches.

My father who passed away 36 years ago only ever had and smoked 1 pipe at a time, usually a Kaywoodie and he smoked Granger all day every day. He used a pipe cleaner when necessary and occasionally scraped the bowl with a knife or screwdriver whichever was handy. He used book matches. He carried his tobacco in a zippered leather pouch.
We bought him pipes that he never used and tobacco that he'd try a bowl of and then put it away going back to his Granger. Wish I had all those Granger tins he tossed over the years.

I've only bought Peterson for a couple of years or more now. Love it. Brings a little focus and restraint to my PAD if truth be told. If I bought every pipe that caught my fancy of any brand, I'd be far worse off in the excessive pipe department than I am now.Of the 28 favorite pipes I smoke weekly, 24 are Peterson.
Hi, I’m Barry…. I have PAD…. I have tried to limit myself to GBD, Dunhills, Peterson, Savanelli, Grabow… oh Hell…. I buy anything …. I can’t help it … that’s the High Dollar shelves (when I decide to sell or I croak) and then the other shelf is overflow.

I have more than 20 but my PAD is partially controlled by the limits of my pipe cabinet. There's no room for additions so when I buy a new pipe I have to sell one to make room.
Pete is my 2nd favorite brand. Have about. 20 of them. Nine are my no.1 shape: 9BC . . . I have nine of them. The others are Deluxes, one Kapp-Royale and a Straight Grain.
That's exactly why I bought a 7-pipe rack for my regular smokers -- whatever size I buy I know I will fill.
I only have one at the moment. But I just got back into smoking after about 10 years off. I think eventually a dozen sounds like a solid rotation, but thinking about what that will cost me is a bit overwhelming. My current pipe is a Peterson and I’ll likely stick with them.
