I’ve achieved Nirvana. I no longer have PAD. After about 10 years, I’ve arrived at a collection of pipes under 20 that I feel will satisfy me for life. When I see videos or posts of smokers with a room full of pipes numbering over 100, I get anxiety. So I’m wondering who else has achieved complete satisfaction with a collection of 20 or fewer pipes. I’ve found that the ones I’ve kept are not necessarily the most expensive ones. I will post the details of my collection and why I like them within a couple weeks. Now I can simply spend money on vintage tins of Mclellands Virginia flake. Lol.

I understand completely. I mostly only use two these days myself. I look over pipe sites and find nothing eye catching.
I’m amazed at how ugly allot of new pipes are. If I add any in future will probably be Moretti. They just feel great in hand and have great proportions. Also, for some reason I prefer Gepetto line of pipes better than Ser Jacopo, which is their premiere line. I’m lucky to have inexpensive taste. I have two Castello and I do like them, but I don’t see where they are that much better than allot of pipes that are half or one-third the price.

I've mostly forsaken my collection for Falcons.

easy come easy go for me, I buy and sell (trade to SP) all the time. same with knives and fishing gear. maybe have found satisfaction in Peterson, Italian and now meerschaum pipes. 10 briar, 5 cobs and 4 meers currently.

possibly if i'd smoked meers earlier in my pipe smoking i'd have mostly meers.

Sitting at roughly 25 pipes including my very first which is a Butz-Choquin basket pipe.
The only thing I want is a cheap factory pipe with a killer blast that highlights straight and ring grain.
Sometimes I find what I want in Peterson’s and sometimes in Ropp but I never pull the trigger.
I’m self employed in the fickle/fucked up music biz so money comes and goes and seldom in the same phase as inexpensive pipes with great blasts.

After my most recent arrival — a very lovely, but affordable Peterson Irish Harp 01 — I now can go three weeks without smoking the same pipe twice (if I stick 1 bowl a day). I feel this is plenty of pipes. But that doesn’t mean I don’t still ogle pipes worth ogling.

Not sure if this will help, but: I collect Stanwell model 52 pipes. Currently have 23 of them and while always looking for more I am now at a point where I am very selective. I do not need any more pipes for the sake of smoking. 23 is plenty. So now I am focusing my “ search” on the models I do not have: Silver Mount, Flora Danica, Brazilian Sandblast, Sterling Silver. If I find any of those, yes I will be interested, otherwise I am fine where I am. And yes, other than a birth year Dunhill and a gift of a Castello billiard, those are the only pipes I smoke.

Being a focused brand/shape collector narrows things down and can be very satisfying!
