Google Translate can be an endless source of amusement. Check out what it does with Japanese. There used to be an outstanding Japanese pipe site called Ye Olde Briars, and when I used Google translate on it the results were a hilariously ribald pornographic carnival.. Sadly, the site no longer appears to exist, which is a shame as it was one of the few sites that actually had decent information on the history of British pipes with really beautiful images.

Mr. Sable didn't take it down. Why provoke a fight where there is nothing to provoke. The real question is would you be as concerned if he had said his wife was sorry for being a dick?

Or, are men so superior that words are unable to disparage them so there is no need to concern oneself about using disparaging language against men?
I think the guy is well intentioned, just completely missing the point. I'm taking a cue from what you said in another thread, and putting no more effort in that direction.
What made her comment stand out for me at the time was that she never used "language", but on this occasion she carefully and deliberately decided it was the best, most apt, and concise description she had for her behavior.

Here are some real ways men are abusing women: biological men taking over women's sports...including even a man beating the shit out of a woman in cage fighting. Biological men in women's and girls' restrooms...violent, sexual predator biological men being put into women's prisons...biological men punching women who are protesting these types of things, biological men being put into women's college dorms and fraternities, etc.

Where are the valiant male protectors of women and girls in regard to the above?

Shhhhhhhhhh.....

That's different

When I retired from education, I was so dismayed by how much academic integrity and speech had been hijacked by a movement of “good intentions“ that when it came time for me to put together my farewell speech for my colleagues, I decided it should be something that addressed my concerns clearly. The speech was 7 words long. One of the words in the speech was the one @sablebrush52 ’s ex said and has been bantered about here. I’ll let you guess what the other 6 words were - in deference to Mr. Carlin I updated them to be more “offensive” for today’s audience.

The point of the speech was that ideas are what matters - not words - and that when saying a word that has been deemed politically incorrect can squelch or shut down the conversation of ideas necessary for the free exchange of ideas - well, then the exchange of ideas has been successfully shut down. Words are important. Yes. But they are used it orchestrate, punctuate, and amplify other words so that ideas have a more truer and resounding meaning. When we censor words we in effect sensor speech. The word in question used in @sablebrush52 ’s story amplified the irony and twist to the point he was making. Just saying C - word instead of using the real word fails miserably and falls short literally.

I understand the point of being kind and thoughtful to others who engage on a public forum. Don‘t use vulgar language in a personal attack. Agreed. But to shy away from a word that illustrates an idea just because one is afraid the word might offend out of context. Well then, in what context does that type of thinking make our world a more thoughtful place?

The root cause of the concentration on feelings and emotion everywhere you look these days is because there has always been a ready supply of power-hungry Ruler Wannbees willing to manipulate anyone naive enough to BE manipulated, and social media has provided them with the perfect tool to do it.

Vast numbers of feelings-based "reasoners" are their attack dogs.

As long the target is presented/framed in a way that causes outrage, they will storm the walls.

Promise them a Paradise of Equality For All tomorrow if they fight the Evil Things that are pointed out to them today, and they will.

Facts don't matter. Ignorance, naiveté, tribalism, youthful energy, self-righteousness, and social acceptance---wanting to be accepted by their friends---is all it takes.

Added Bonus: Because the primary damage they will cause is economic, actual physical attacks are unnecessary. Obsolete. Entire countries can be conquered without firing a shot. No military required.

Afterward? The Paradise of Equality For All that was promised? The end result that was the social-media-driven horde's fundamental motivation for taking action?

Whoops. Sorry. Too bad, so sad. We seem to have miscalculated, there. Now get back in your cubicle, Winston.

Well, I have to say that I am a great admirer of the old American comedians, among them, the Marx brothers. It is true that Spanish humor is bittersweet, typical of Mediterranean countries. Like a hard whiskey, not very sweet and sometimes bitter. But this is just my personal perception. Nothing conclusive of course.

Theres no better than typical British humor, yet I find that the Swedish is very close to British.

Thanks for the clarification, I was a bit flummoxed and while I was looking at a map earlier and saw the little link link to the ocean I did wonder that... Is that some new development? I did read quickly earlier that is apparently one of the oldest lakes on earth. Anyways, political climate aside, doesn't seem like it would be a scenic place to visit due to all the oil rigs etc. Would be nice to make it to Titicaca one day though.
With lake elevation being at sea level the ocean water will have always flowed in and out with the tide.
The percentage of salinity may have changed with time but I doubt it was ever a fresh water lake.

Hey @JOHN72 after some digging I found some of my forum "work" from around 2007. Would you be so kind to give me an appraisement as I might again devote my life to pissing off.

Friends, I would like to come clean with my impromptu for joining an English language forum as it has to do with exercising with an old ghost in my dreams. This is the first I have spoken publicly on the subject; on occasion I thought to have a conversation with Dieter but he is always so harsh on matters of the heart.

Three years and a half ago I had a passioned lover affair that started in New York and traveled to Roma and Paris and ending in my childhood village in Rheinhessen. The subject of my blinded devotion was an American Italian named Rachel who has since made a great success out of her verbal charm and pearl whitened teeth. At the time it was clearly to see that her temper took the best from us. After many fights over her preoccupation with pornography and organic therapeutics we ended our great love with an aggression on her part that left a 5cm impression of those very whitened teeth on my left thigh just below my bikini line.

Having mostly erased this great trauma from my memory I was very disturbed to see her face up to mine in my dreams. This first occurred a month ago and shocked me so that I jumped from my bed and almost impaled my left foot on a shoe horn. I have since lowered my mattress to the floor to avoid physical disability. Since the nature of these frequent dreams have come in two variations: simply her face is nose to mine as if to use her eyes like a Dracula's fangs to drain me or in a more complicated and frightening sequence her floating head is chasing me through a subway tunnel ************** biting the air as I helpless run as if falling through a darkened spiral. They both end only when I wake in a state of panic that is followed by a feeling of distended gas in my abdomen.

As I do not believe in psychotherapy since I discovered my last consular was a fan of the English comedian Rowan Atkins in a most inappropriate sense I thought it practical to come to better understand the heart land from which my current state of mental distress originated and sew to seek advice from the relatives even if distant of my former lover.
You have a good English translation, or at least the translator is good. If that's what you mean. Are you from German, puff friend?

Never really got into woodwinds, cake decorating, or decorative knitting. The other is just a derogatory condescending term for a pipe smoker or a small bird.
Many people use the P-word quite innocently, so for them it's neither derogatory nor condescending. Most of us just pass it by and may gently tell the newcomer that some folks get steamed up when they see it. Many more important things such as distinguishing "bowl' from "chamber" even when the meaning is perfectly clear.
