Last year, for the first day of rifle season for whitetails in PA, which was the Saturday after Thanksgiving, I brought along my MM Diamondback and a tin of Pegasus. Sitting in a deer stand with my 10 year old son and 13 year old daughter, enjoying some Pegasus in my trusty cob, may have been some of the finest smokes I've ever experienced.

I take it you’re not obsessed with scent control like some of these guys these days. I guess the old timers shot more dear in flannel and chain smoking.

What a nice mental picture that conjurs up.

Good to see this thread going strong!

Last week, some Pegasus on the high deck of this WI cabin, overlooking the lake as the sun sets

I had a bowl of Winchester this evening, one that I had loaded into my pipe last night and didn’t get to smoke until tonight. It was OK, a mildly flavorful tobacco until about the last 1/3 or so, when it turned bitter. All in all not a bad smoke, but I still don’t really get the love.

Now the bowl of Match Walnut that I smoked last evening? That was very pleasant, sweet and easy to smoke. Again it turned a little bitter at the very end, but that’s just burley-forward blends to my palate, I guess.

I’ve heard the burleys C&D use are typically uncased. I wonder if this causes people to think they’re underaged.
After smoking Virginias like mad all year I am circling back around to burleys as fall sets in.

Could one mix Pegasus from C&D Burley Ribbon and White Burley? Or is there a casing they add to these before blending? I've got plenty of aged VA and BC.

Jeez, most cigars cost $10 now. It's ridiculous. God Bless whoever kept The Man's sticky tax fingers off of pipe tobacco.
LOL. You must not live in a state with a high tobacco excise tax that applies to all tobacco. Indiana, where I live, is actually in the middle of the excise tax rates (29th out of 51), but it's still 24% of the wholesale price.

Are the burleys in Pegasus and Haunted Bookshop cased?

I have three kinds of C&D Burley (Dark, White, and Ribbon Cut) and would like to make a Pegasus-like blend.
Progress Report? I for one would like to know. It amazes me that the ratio is essentially..everything.

If you can still find it, there’s a video floating of Matches860 enjoying some Pegasus. Eye opening in that John went to great lengths explaining the great depth of understanding that C&D creator Bob Runowski possessed regarding the interaction of various leaf and how each plays upon the other.

If you can achieve that same feeling you’re a better man than I. I’ve found with my own favorite blends; adding the slightest amount of anything, causes it to cease to be what it was that I liked.
