Haha. Apparently the most correct English in the UK is spoken in Inverness. Which if it’s true is the most damning indictment of the language ever.

I must confess though that although I am Scottish, brought up in the North East with all the richness of the Scots language. My family is from northern England.

Oh aye my pronunciation would potentially be baffling to a lot of folk. ? Although I could use my ‘posh voice’ if needed.

I'm from Long Island and was an actor into my 30's. To get work I knew I had to kill my accent and I succeeded. I went to the Old Globe Theater in San Diego and got cast as a patrolman Vinelli from the Bronx! Go figyuh!

Smoking acronyms are just part of the learning curve. You don't know how to use a French curve the first day of an architectural course, but it is part of it.

I do know how to use a french letter, and occasionally a french tickler, if required. There is learning curve there too.

I assume that people who overuse acronyms are fairly indifferent about being broadly understood by readers, so I generally ignore what they've written. It's similar to people who mumble constantly.

Average miles per gallon were once a common selling point for American cars. So a maker might say their car got 10 miles per gallon city and 15 highway which was always followed my "your milage may vary" because how one drives determines actual milage. The phrase was also a type of "fine print" excusing the maker from any liability. So, your milage may vary aka YMMV has now become a way to make claim and get out of having to prove it or suggest that everyone will have the same or similar experience.
