I believe that if you don't think proper grammar, spelling and punctuation are important, you don't think communication is important. I also agree with watson: I have too many acronyms in my life, just write the dadgum words please, and also can't stand the urban lingo kids use. I blame cell phones.

Watson has the right idea when it comes to abbreviations, i feel they do little more than make people who dont know them feel excluded or stupid. As for the main point i believe the "rules" should not be considered rules but rather guidelines. If you adhere to them 100% of the time the language will become stagnate and dull. Languages are fluid and constantly changing. If you wrote an A+ essay today and brought it back to the early days of english they would take you for an idiot.

This isn't an issue for me and have never understood why there needs to be rules about it. Is society so fast paced now that you can't write properly. I don't understand why people make posts like they are texting their friend. Heck, I use proper English when even texting. I don't like all these stupid abbreviations. Its dumb. We're pipe smokers we're supposed to be civilized. LOL

Speaking (typing?) as a History major with a minor in English, the language undergoes regular changes in popular usage. Many of these changes eventually are enshrined as "traditional usage", although back in their day, they were decried by elder grammarians and usage mavens upset about these young whippersnappers with their "23-skiddo" and "OK" gobbledegook... :lol:
That aside, when there are clear expectations set by the owner and moderators of a privately funded space, one should do one's best to uphold those expectations. Kevin's house, Kevin's rules...

I hang out at a SportBike forum on occasion and there is this one guy who irritate the ______ out of everyone.
He Tried To Be Unique By Capitalizing And Bolding Every Word In His Paragraphs. Everyone Has Asked Him To Stop But He Says Capitalizing The First Word "Is His Thing".

Just try your best and don't type like a 5 year old. If you have trouble seeing what you're typing you can use the zoom function on your browser (Ctrl +).
Although I'm sure Kevin will let you slide on that as long as you know what paragraphs are.

Sometimes the correct spelling, and or punctuation escapes me. I mean no disrespect however, i also agree with having a neat well maintained place to read and write. I am only twenty five and hate the way my generation speaks and writes, i find it ridiculous. Although i'm not perfect i do try my best to speak and write correctly. If you happen to see some writing of mine that's way out of whack just let me know, i don't mind being corrected. I have no means to offend.

Every browser I use has spell check built in. Chrome will underline it in red, and Explorer will auto correct commonly misspelled words, and I don't know what Firefox does.
It's really not even anything you have to use with any extra effort. Just right click the words in red.
Or I'm a mother-flipping Wizard.
