Codger/OTC fans who haven't done so should check out PC's Home and Hearth Mid-Town blends, which are matches to OTC blends that seem to have fewer additives and good quality tobacco. These tub tobaccos are now available in smaller bags so you can sample one or several before you commit to a tub, and the tub is only about $28. I enjoy the only non-aromatic in the series, Chestnut, which is a match to the now discontinued but long-popular Walnut blend. Chatham Manor is an admired version of Carter Hall at a significant savings.

Truer words were never spoke. Chatham Manor is one of my favorite tobaccos, Carter Hall without the chemical after taste. Try them, and if you like them, cellar them before they disappear.

Oops, the Mid-Town series is now up to $31 a tub, but still an excellent buy. Might have to lay in some Chatham Manor. And you can still buy the smaller quantities to sample or for a variety pack. If they run a sale, I'd say jump on it.

I ordered a tub of CB Royal a week ago. P&C had it on sale and it came with a $10 off coupon. Saw last night while enjoying some whiskey that Lane tobaccos were on sale. Some bulks for $22 for 16 oz and another $10 off coupon! I haven’t bought anything for a long while but these coupons have triggered a TAD! I’ve been looking at the mid town version of sugar barrel. Has anyone tried that or have a recommendation for something similar?

I'm intrigued that Carter Hall is marketed as a non-aro, but Chatham Manor, which is somewhat a match, is billed as a vanilla-bourbon aro. In any case, the flavoring is done with a light hand, I've heard. Both good. For years, I assumed Granger was a non-aro, even after I tried it and owned a tub. But it was pointed out to me by my local indy pipe shop owner that it is technically an aro, maybe anise or something subtle.

I still do occasionally smoke them U.S Codger Blends, for the money I find them being very good value,My favorites among all what I have tried so far was SWRA and Carter H, (will keep this Chatman manor brand in my mind. Shame that Granger brand does not sell in pouches.

Carter Hall is still a regular part of my rotation and is my favorite "OTC" or "drug store" blend tobacco.

I'm not sure why, but Captain Black and Borkum Riff are waaay more expensive than any other OTCs where I am at.
