Ordo Fraternus Fumi translates roughly from the Latin to the Fraternal Order of Smoke.

Conversations over time have enlightened me that there are a great deal of members on this forum who are members of various fraternal organizations; collegiate, professional and social. If you are so inclined, please share your memberships below. I'll start.

Alumnus, Sigma Nu Fraternity (a.k.a., the Legion of Honor); Zeta Psi Chapter at Lamar University and Mu Upsilon Chapter at Stephen F. Austin State University.

I'm a Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite as well. I am also affiliated with Scouting as an adult leader.

No fraternities for me. My University did not have a Greek system fortunately/unfortunately.

My work makes maintaining affiliations difficult to say the least, but I do my best.

Lambda Chi Alpha… as an undergrad. I just couldn’t keep staying up that late as a grad student. That’s where I got my nickname.

Edit: I’ve also been active with Toastmasters, but I haven’t been as active since covid.

Not a joiner, too asocial. I was president of the Alaska Peace Officers Association a couple of terms. I
m a non-participating life member now, if I remember correctly.

I should also perhaps ask if you picked up pipes & cigars during your association?

I began smoking pipes when I inherited my grandfather's set. I picked up cigars about a year later with some of my fraternity brothers. A couple of them followed me into pipe smoking as well.

Started smoking pipes at 17 while trying all tobacco products. Personally knew no pipe smokers for decades after that. I still enjoy most forms of tobacco but my smoking developed completely independently being the family's only tobacco user for three generations.

I later became a Master Mason in my early 20’s, but have been inactive for many years.

That's a different question now. Started smoking cigarettes as a proud member of KGB (Kissena Gang Bangers) at 12. As for pipes, didn't really think I would live this long. It wasn't a gang. It was a social club of proud 9 young men who were into having fun, crashing other schools' dance parties, beating up DJ's afterwards, occasional church fights.. You know. Good stuff.

Some clubs, all private. Some charity work, some purely social associations.

The annoying thing in this arena is I told Mensa I would not join them in 1980, and they keep hounding me twice a year. Bums!

British Micromount Society & Kernow Microscopical Society are my only affiliations....plus I'm a volunteer reader for the Oxford English dictionary.
