Well the Aros I've had, have been overwhelmingly flavored, goopy and wet, I usually end up taking them and mixing them with straight Burley or Virginia to tone them down a bit. Real reason I'm ordering these Aromatics besides simply to try them, is that I'm looking for blends for my Dad. He didn't really care for the HB I sent him, he's looking for what he remembers his granddad and uncles smoking back in the 60s. I want to find something he will enjoy before he gives up on pipe smoking. He thought HB tasted like Cigarettes. I told him to smoke slower and try to keep it cool, and enjoy the taste. He said he wanted something sweeter and that smelled really good. Well that's Aros. So I figure I'll try a few and if there good I'll send him some tins.
Good luck on the search. My grandfather was a pipe smoker and his favorite was George Washington until the stopped making it around 1974. I was able to buy a 14-oz. can that was still sealed about seven years ago and still have around four or five ounces in mason jars.

Your dad might enjoy American Cut Plug Mixture from Watch City. A medium bodied classic American burley with just a touch of molasses and cocoa (much less than something like RR March, for example)

I’m a big fan of Crooner. Easy to pack, lights well, smooth flavor that is hard to describe. It’s fine like it is but I have experimented with adding more deer tongue to it. It’s good either way. I always keep some on hand.

This weekend I'm gonna give Crooner another shot, im interested in the other two C&D blends that have deertongue too. I really couldn't make my mind up on it one way or another with the one bowl of Crooner I smoked. I'll probably smoke couple more bowls of it and send it to my Dad
